Its not for sale, well maybe, I dunno?

So we had our big spring swap meet this weekend. I didn't bring anything to sell this time. Drove my K20 so I could bring my little "race car" and show it off to my friends that have only seen it online.

Weird what a big hit it was to all the people walking about. I was actually out and about a lot of the time ... much easier to do when you aren't selling.
Well the guys finally got tired of saying not its not for sale and it has a Honda engine. So they put a card board sign on the seat. Not for sale powered by Honda haha! They told me one guy was actually kinda PO'd ... Well why did he bring it if its not for sale!?

So I came back from one of my jaunts around the meet, bought a bunch of toy cars and trucks for my grandson, and Livrat said hey I gave your phone number to a guy and his kid. They want to buy the K20. Kept looking at it and asking if it was for sale. Mark said, Well he is kind of wishy washy when it comes to selling his stuff. It was so funny to me because anyone that knows me knows I really am all over the place haha.

So later I get a call. Yeah I'm calling about the K20 you have for sale ... Well its not really for sale, but I guess if I got the right money I would sell it. So we chatted about it for awhile and agreed on a price. He and his son came by our spot a little later to check it out a little closer. Thank goodness Livrat was there because he built and owned the truck for 30 years. They were asking me questions and I finally gave up ... Hey Mark, come talk to these guys would you?

Now its a put together truck from a 4wheel drive and a 2wheel drive. I have title to both parts haha. But the guy is from Canada, so hes checking in to see if there will be any problems ... Deal may not even go through. He wanted to give me money down, but I said it wasn't necessary because the truck isn't on the market and if this doesn't go through with you guys there isn't anyone waiting in the wings.

So there ya go ... Oh wait, I really really love this truck. Im having second thoughts now. But I have my panel, my burb, my K10 and enough parts to put together a shorty C10. But this is a great truck. But I promised that I would get down to a truck and a car. But me and a buddy are talking about getting a place where we can put all of our car and truck stuff. But ,,, Ugh, I guess Ill wait to hear from the guy and take it from there.

So what was the astronomical price you threw down on it?

No astronomical price. And not really a bad boy either. Just a fun truck to have. Even though its kind of mish mash looking I sure get a lot of thumbs up when I'm out and about. And this isn't a for sale post, I'm not trolling the board, I know how sales here work.

When I get asked about selling my truck, I tell them they can't afford it. Usually after that they don't say anymore cause they realize you're not giving it away.

How much lift does your truck have? Tire size also? I need to do this to my 69 GMC.

Re: Its not for sale, well maybe, I dunno?

Did you sell your green 4x4? You had one a few years back right? If the Title matches the VIN tag then the buyer can get it through the border easy enough. They just check the visible VIN tag & confirm it's not stolen. Although your Title may read 2wd if based on that VIN our insurance ICBC will change it once here. Makes it less valuable up here of course and with our exchange they must really love the truck lol Whatever the price is, add 50% and that's what it costs to a Canadian lol

Re: Its not for sale, well maybe, I dunno?

I will always have one K/20 or K2500 in these years. I never sell anything just because someone asks, no matter what the price. For me, there is much more to life than money. Everything isn't for sale and not everything has a price, for me. I have downsized out of realistic necessity and am good with that. But, I'm not saying I might not end up with more than before. This is what I like and as long as my desire is there, nothing else dictates how many or how long. I "want" projects on mothballs waiting for my hands. Doesn't bother me a bit.. unless they are sitting out. I need a big building like I had. I sold things off when I lost my last place

Re: Its not for sale, well maybe, I dunno?

I have people asking all the time to buy my trucks or cars and some are not for sale at any price and I have been told countless times that everything has a price .If I dont want to sell it , no amount of money will take it .My wife's 72 Malibu convertible is one of those with no price and my frame off restored 72 shorty C10 is another .My K10 that I just bought from Cali ,if someone offers STUPID money for it ,it may go but it would have to be stupid money as its the first ever of these trucks I have ever had with no rust .

Re: Its not for sale, well maybe, I dunno?

DO LIKE YOUR K20!!
Not many of my material possessions are too sacred to sell for the right price. Cars, trucks, boats, motorcycles, campers, guns.... I try to have a number in mind that would buy 'em. My finances have never allowed me to say "it's not for sale for ANY price". Guess my number is pretty BIG, 'cause I've had my 2 current trucks for around 5yrs. apiece.

Re: Its not for sale, well maybe, I dunno?

My green K20 went to a friend in a trade. I try not to think about it lol. Wont go in to it but in the long run it was a very bad choice.

I have plenty of trucks in the wings. I need to thin the herd. My plan was to get the panel on the road and then decided .. K20 or panel. Next up would be my Corvair. Would love to have that for next summer. 60 is coming up on me fast, would like to have one nice truck and my Corvair done, and who knows what happens after that.

I believe the GMC has four inch lift. Tires would be equivalent to 33x12.5 16.5

Title does match the vin tag, but it does read as the 2wheel drive truck it came from. I do have title for the chassis, just haven't transferred from Livrat to me yet. Its not a big deal here in Washington State.

Now that the weekend is over if he still wants it Im fine with it as long as there isnt any weirdness like having to drive it to the border for inspections and such. All I want to have to do is take money, sign the title and thats it. Anything else and its a no go. Im not making any money on this deal, but Im not losing either, which is pretty rare for me lol

I wont mention how cool the green K20 was then lol If they still want it, it should be a quick sign the Title over, Bill of Sale & they just submit the papers & wait three business days before it can cross the border.

I was just thinking I should put this caveat in just in case my buddy peruses the board. The "bad choice" has nothing to do with him. Im pretty sure he knows what it was lol

Caveat? What do gourmet little fish eggs have to do with this?

Don't worry about 60 so much. Nothing changes, except realizing time has it's limits. And, I know that is what you are considering, I have. The fact is, look back 20 years and look at all you did. You have that left, although some things might get harder or even too hard. You'll find a way to deal with that, same as everything else you made happen up till now. Some things are easier because of what you now know.

Re: Its not for sale, well maybe, I dunno?

So I talked to my Canadian neighbor Saturday afternoon and haven't heard anything yet and its Wednesday evening here. Im guessing he changed his mind. If I don't hear from him by this Saturday morning Im going to start putzing with the truck again.

Plus when I told my honey I was going to sell it ... How are we going to get the bark home, how are we going to get the gravel home, how are we going to get the plants home, how are we going to get the rest of the junk to the dump from tearing down the shed???

LOL, who knew she cared so much about my old truck? =)

Only way to sell a K is to drive the new K to the hardware store to buy the "for sale" sign.
