2013 Honda odyssey middle row seats w/ pics

Well my stock bench was trashed and I don't particularly care for how the stock bench sits though I much prefer the look of it.

I don't like seeing the seat above the window but when I was mocking everything up figuring out how I wanted to do this with the seat sitting at the bottom of the window I was sitting too low. Felt like I was looking through the steering wheel and I'm 6ft tall.

The seats came with brackets on the bottom that just snap into bars so they didn't just bolt down and I've got quite a bit of time into making these work. I'm not sure they were worth all the work but they were cheaper than fixing up my stock seat which is trashed and they are also more comfortable.

The seats might not look like they are sitting at the same height but I retained the sliders so it just depends on how far forward they are and how much the seat is leaned back.

Anyways here are the pics.

Thanks. Dont really like how they look with the headrests so think i will leave those off. Might see if i can figure out some kind of cover for the headrest holes.

I met another member that used the same seat and he loved them. Think his user name was dunenutt hope that was spelled right. Do a search I think he had a build thread.

Re: 2013 Honda odyssey middle row seats w/ pics

Thanks for the reference on that other build, will check it out. Probably would have saved me hours as he probably figured out all the hard stuff! Oh well.

Not to mislead, I actually bought this truck from a firefighter. Just never took off the sticker.

Edit: Just looked at Dunenutts thread. He used the original clip in mounts. I debated using those for awhile but I couldn't figure out how to use those mounts without a welder and I actually wanted the seat to sit a bit lower. I took off the clip mounts but left the slider and made my own brackets. Lowered the seat about 1 1/2" lower than it would have been otherwise. Though the quick removal would have been nice.

I used 1/8" x 1 1/4" steel for the brackets. I have my doubts about the 1/8" steel holding up but I'll keep an eye on them and see if they start to bend. If they do I'll have to weld in some bracing. I will need to pull them back out in the next few months anyways to do carpet if things go the way I would like.

I'm a retired Arizona Firefighter, love the seats and we love the FF advertisement too.

That looks pretty comply and the plus is the center console which looks useful. I'd say SCORE!

Re: 2013 Honda odyssey middle row seats w/ pics

just say this today i have those same exact seats can you take close ups on the brackets you made i looked for the build thread mentioned but no luck! i bought 2 sets brackets from a 90s chevy truck for each seat and cut the slides off the top and was planning on welding it to the bottom of the seat as i also took those hook pieces off. still not sure if this is what i want to do because i dont want to drill wholes in the floor and just bolt it down and leave it.

Re: 2013 Honda odyssey middle row seats w/ pics

You can kind of see the brackets in one of the pics. But here is a better pic. It's bent 1/8" x 1 1/4 steel. I had it in the garage so figured I would put it to use.

Did you take all the bottom brackets completely off? I ended up keeping the slider mechanism which involved drilling out some big factory rivets to seperate the clip mount bracketry from it. Then I just used the existing holes to mount the brackets too. At the backs I used the old rivet holes and up front I used an existing hole and a stud that was already there. I got a couple pics as I was tearing it apart. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

OK, there's a that is at every Goodguys show in pleasanton selling these seats. I thought about it a couple times before just buying a new silverado seat.
You mind giving some info to help some seat-challenged people?

How tall are you?
Are you sitting on the steering wheel now?

My brackets are 3" high in the back and about 2 1/4" in the front. THe middle seat was totally different. It was like 2 1/4 and 1 1/8 or something. I spent an hour so so mocking everything up with wood I had laying around to figure out where I wanted them to sit. You might want them sitting higher or lower than I have them. The horizontal parts I just made long enough to hit the bolt holes.

I'm 6ft Tall and about 155lbs. I don't feel any closer to the steering wheel now than I did before. If anything I feel further away due to sitting lower.
My bench is about 5" at the thickest point on the backrest. These seats are about 6" thick.

Once I collapse the steering column an inch or two it should be perfect.

Any other questions ask away.

Just for reference, some measurements from my stock, non-tilt steering wheel. Measuring from the bottom of the wheel. 14" to the backrest. 7 3/4" to the seat cushion.

I actually just put the metal in my vise and bent it using the flat side of my ball peen hammer. The 90 degree bends came out cleaner than I thought they would so I went for it. Not the fastest way to do things but I don't have much besides the basic hand and power tools.

Awesome! Thanks for the info, this looks like a good swap then. I'm 5'10" and I was on top of the steering wheel after putting my silverado seat in. then I had it reupholstered and they added seat heaters and additional foam to make it softer, that put me even closer. only real remedy after that is a tilt column

Thread resurrection. Thank you for documenting this. Could you post the pics you took while dissecting the seats and bolting them up etc?
