Re: 85 C10 LT/6L80 Frame off build

Vibro Solutions 2MM damping material installed, they offer kits that work well with the C10. i had enough to cover firewall, floor, back of cab, roof and inside of the doors. Top layer is Vibro Solutions 6MM foam to finish it off.

Lee Power Steering box, I have installed 4 this year on other builds, highly recommend. Belltech sway bars, springs and shocks will be used on this build.

Which Belltech drop springs did you use? And did they line up to the top and bottom pockets correctly?

Looks like it’s coming along great. I’m anxious to see it completed. Is that Coy’s vette in the background?

Did you have to mod the trans tunnel to fit the transmission?

Roaddog, he posted back in post #33 that he raised his trans tunnel to make it fit, but I’m not sure how much he raised it. I’m currently working on a 6.0/6L90 combo and had to do the same. I cut out the low section and raised it similar to what a “high hump” 4wd trans tunnel would be. I’m hoping this way I can run factory replacement high hump carpet.

Re: 85 C10 LT/6L80 Frame off build

Oh yeah I see it now haha. I read the whole build thread a few weeks ago when I started considering a 6l90 and have been going back and forth and was skimming today and reconsidering it again but not sure I want to cut it up. Beautiful build by the way

I did, you could probably get it to fit without doing so if you don't mind to sit the engine high and have 6 degrees or so in it. I prefer a low sitting engine and trans above the frame if possible.

Dashes Direct seat foam and a new OE style seat cover complete, I'm really impressed with the seat foam.

I went ahead a made a new fan shroud to go with the Dewitts radiator. I wanted use a certain style of Spal fans and also so I could mount the shroud to the factory top radiator plate.

Re: 85 C10 LT/6L80 Frame off build

Great job on everything so far. LOL on the vette situation. I’ve known him for around 30 years now and you’re exactly right about him being picky. I’m sure it sees the inside of the garage much more than the outside, lol.

Re: 85 C10 LT/6L80 Frame off build

Those look great. Mine’s not even running yet and I’ve almost decided I should’ve went with manifolds over the Super Comp long tubes. I had the stock truck manifolds but also looked at the Holley ones as well. I’m hoping I don’t have heat soak issues on the starter with the long tubes. Those manifolds make everything look nice and clean.

I like the manifold look, I’m all about OE look and quieter exhaust these days.

Thanks, keep in touch. I did 5” on front and rear. The rear is tight to the bedside with a 10.5” wheel.
