Wax to use on original red paint that keeps the shine the longest?

It seems like the red on my truck loses it's shine quickly.

I used NuFinish once and it looked great for a short while. Anything better for that red paint?

I use S100. I picked it up at a harley dealership by me. I use it twice a year. I also use the condtioner that they recommend. It has done a great job and lasts a awhile.

Re: Wax to use on original red paint that keeps the shine the longest?

See the truck is really good on top, the red is dull and comes back with a wax. So when I go to repaint the black, I'm bringing it right to the bottom.

if I could get away without having to repaint the entire top with red - that would be awesome.

I suppose you couldn't clearcoat the original paint could you?

I use the Wizards stuff. The paint sealant is called Shine-Master (Imagine that). I laughed when I first saw it, but I use it on my black paint, my wifes G8, and my son's red paint on his truck.

Re: Wax to use on original red paint that keeps the shine the longest?

Best wax I have used on red and or black cars is Malms. It is not cheap, but it works very well. It is the only wax I have found that gives a deep and wet look. It works best on Black and Red (dark colors). It is labor intensive (when using the polish) but it goes on real easy and not a lot of powdery residue (unless applied very heavy).

Typical maintenance would be polish once per year and wax maybe every three-four months. A cap full is enough for an average sized car. It is 100% Carnuba. Not cheap...

Re: Wax to use on original red paint that keeps the shine the longest?

The Wizard product will hold out up to 4 months. No wax will stand up that long on a true driver. It really is a durable product. Bury the surface with 2-3 coats, allowing the third to set up overnight.

Re: Wax to use on original red paint that keeps the shine the longest?

Prep is key in getting the best results
1. Good car wash, Dawn dishsoap, to remove old wax.
2. Claybar the paint, removes contaminants imbedded in the paint.
3. Paint cleaner to remove swirls, blemishes and fine scratches.
4. Polish the paint, this feeds the paint with vital oils and polishes the paint for a superior shine.
5. Wax the paint, use a quality wax and apply 2 coats, give the wax 24 hrs to cure between coats this will ensure complete coverage.
6. Use a spray detailer/wax to maintain the paint after washing or when dusty and not dirty enough to wash.
