New black carpet in mine, too. The light blue carpet added to just too much blue overall..

Not to sound silly, but what is the best way to install seat? Do you cut the carpet out around the base of the seat track, or is it best to glue carpet down, then punch holes through for the bolts. I know that trying to drill them may cause carpet to unravel. What are some of the ways that you have had the best luck with?

Search for the Treads on it. I’ve heard different techniques from a punch, to melting the holes in with a Soldering Iron. I’m gonna follow this though, because I’m putting a new carpet in mine sometime this year

SUPER......and the carpet is nice too......I located the holes in the carpet with an awl..can be done from underneath the truck push up thru the reinforced mounting nuts.....mark with tape and or sharpie....use 3/8" punch to cut clean hole in carpet.

I also marked using an awl from underneath, but I then used a 3/4" hole saw slowly IN REVERSE to drill while supporting the carpet above the floor.. If I recall, this method was shown in a video on the Stock Interiors website. Punch sounds like a good idea.

Forgot to mention punch can be used without hammer, if it is sharp a couple of twists while pushing down will make a nice clean cut. You can also sharpen almost any tube if you don't have a punch.

Thanks for the replies. One of my buddies use to work at Sears in the automotive section back in the sixties. They use to install a lot of seat belts. He said when ever they installed a set they used a punch and a hammer, it would go thru the carpet and the floor board, then install a big washer underneath and tighten. I could see where a punch would work.

I did the soldering iron trick on my install. Ruined the soldering iron, but it worked great. Also cauterized the holes so there was no unraveling or fraying etc.
