Re: My 65 step build and first chevy

I used the measurement as a reference to the rolled edge of bottom. With the bracket behind installed right it falls right into place.

Re: My 65 step build and first chevy

This door patch was the hardest so far. I used the wood trick I saw on a show to make the inner door piece. As you can see it was pretty much gone. This whole patch took a full day for me. Still got the other door to do.

Re: My 65 step build and first chevy

Got the other door done over the weekend. Going to line up front fenders and make sure gap is good and they line up right. Then get the cab ready to pull

Re: My 65 step build and first chevy

Thanks guys for the support. I am hoping the media blast on cab goes well and no more surprises. Still have the dash to patch where radio opening was cut.

Re: My 65 step build and first chevy

I worked on the inner fenders grill support and radiator support this weekend. I used the 3M undercoating and got the inner fenders and rad support painted. I will paint the grill support when painting front fenders and stuff. Came out pretty good.

Re: My 65 step build and first chevy

Things we found under the bondo door mirror mount inside of door to help stop bondo from falling in. One inch hole in roof for old CB antenna. One hole passenger side for another cb antenna. All kinds of holes inside cab. Tomorrow is hole filling day.

Got to say all in all this cab is pretty solid not much rust anywhere.

Re: My 65 step build and first chevy

Have been busy lately and wanted to update but just now got the time. I have got the floor of cab all finished up here. I welded up the extra holes then sealer primed. The next day hit with red scotch-brite and undercoated using the 3M.

Re: My 65 step build and first chevy

Then I got started on the dash. You can see where it was bent in up top pretty good. Also the radio area had been cut larger. I decided to patch. I got it at Brothers really cool store front they have. I mentioned the site and they gave me a discount which was awesome.

Re: My 65 step build and first chevy

I cut the dash leaving both brackets on one was the dash instruments and the other side was for glove box. The patch has the instrument bracket but not the glove box. Once I fitted the patch and lined up the instrument side together I tacked in. Once I was sure the holes lined up to the instrument panel I cot the old bracket off from behind the dash. This was the hardest patch I did on whole truck. After I tacked it in I also checked the glove box fitment had quite a time getting the lower left gap set on glove box.

Re: My 65 step build and first chevy

Then I started getting the major areas of body work done so I could prime for block sanding.

Re: My 65 step build and first chevy

I got the roof all blocked in now and ready for sealer primer. I wanted to do the seam seal before the sealer primer. It came out pretty good. I used this brand after I saw it on a video and how easy it was to use and could use standard caulking gun. I have it sanded now and ready for prime with rest of roof. I also drilled holes where it drains. I had to tape them underneath to stop it from flowing out.
