Came across this...

Very original 67 c30 all the way to the split rims. Plates are from the 70's. Any info on the bed? Looks like it was on it since new. Not sure about any other options.4 speed No rust, Body is straight.

Is it for sale? Looks pretty decent. The bed looks like a utility bed.

Good looking truck. That's one stout looking back bumper. I like the quad horse stickers. Any guess on what that rig was used for?

Re: Came across this...

Tough truck!

I've always liked the idea of a utility bed under a camper: it goes a LONG way toward solving the shortage of gear storage!

Re: Came across this...

That was a way to buy campers many years ago, so it would have (hopefully) started life as a cab&chassis (C&C), then get the utility body, then the camper. I've seen them around before. A look at the SPID could tell if it was a C&C. Buying a bed and then taking it off would be wasteful.

Going with the horse theme I am going to guess it was used by a rodeo rider of some kind. A team roper or barrel racer who traveled half the year chasing points all over the west. Houston to Calgary to St Paul to Davies Florida.

I'm not sure but the house looks abandoned. It's really decent

It is a very stout bumper! I'm thinking a camping rig/horse trailer puller.

That's what I'm thinking it was for, lots of storage when you were camping/traveling!

That's what I was thinking too. Would have been top of the line back in the day. Hopefully it has the spud intact

Re: Came across this...

That's a pickup camper and the body is custom made for it. It doesn't look to me like a utility bed/service body company built it. More like what you see welders build for themselves, or home made, or by a shop. I could be wrong. They'll custom build to spec. But there could be a lot more bins, usually are, the way the doors are mounted, They are short, and no lip on the wheel opening or at the top of the body (that I can see). It also appears that wing detail was added on the back

Yeah, I don’t think it started as a utility body. Looks like the body was built for the camper.

That's what I was wondering, not enough doors for a full utility bed

Re: Came across this...

That's a real time capsule. It'd be great if you can find out the owners situation and report back. It looks like a mans ride who perhaps became too old to drive anymore. I like the fact that he left it sitting on jack stands. Any plans on buying it if the opportunity arises? It looks like a solid investment to me. I'd love to see it cleaned up and saved from any potential vandals busting out any more windows in the camper.

It really is! So far the owner is nowhere to be found. He is 82 and I'm thinking he is in a nursing home. The taxes on the property haven't been paid in 3 years and it looks like his wife passed away around that time they stopped being paid. I'm going to send a letter and see what happens. I haven't found any relatives for him and the neighbors haven't seen him in a while. It is interesting the way it was left on jack stands like someone cared enough for that part. If it comes up forsale I'm definitely interested. I don't want to see it get any worse. My Dad was born in 67 and I have been looking for one to replace the 67 we sold.

Oh wow that is so cool. He even covered the windshield/dash. I’d love to see that interior cleaned and detailed. I wonder what’s up with the yellow steering wheel?

Me to! I really think it would be something all cleaned up. I also wondered about the gold/yellow steering wheel. Everything is so nice so why paint that part.
Thanks for flipping the pictures my phone flips them almost every time.

Re: Came across this...

Well after weeks of research and stopping numerous times I finally got to meet the 83 year old gentleman that bought this 67 when it was new or very close. He bought it as a chassis Cab and sent it from Arizona all the way Illinois to a "Long Bar Coach Company" who built the bed custom for him and also built/installed the oversized coach. He and his wife drove this all over the west coast and to every camping spot and lake when they were young. This was there home on wheels, it has everything. He built the awning on the rear and added a deck on the roof so the could sit up there. He was in the pest control business and would take his equipment around them and they would buy/sell jewelry in there travels along with other jobs.. His wife even drove this coach to work at Motorola for a while. This truck was there life when they were young.
He has over an acre of stuff, campers/trailers/cars and trucks and he says he wants to let most of it go. I chatted with him for a couple hours and he said the 327 runs great and has lots of power even loaded down.

Great story. Can't wait to see how it ends...
