Ammeter or not?
Hi Folks, I have a 71 K20 pickup that I have almost finished wiring up with a painless system. I replaced the 60 amp alternator with a one wire internally regulated 150 amp alternator. Should I leave the ammeter hooked up or am I in danger of burning it up. Anybody know what it is rated for? Thanks, Jack

Re: Ammeter or not?
I would not run it. Just do a volt gauge conversion or run a separate volt meter.

Depending on how the painless wiring circuit is designed the ammeter may or may not work. It may even be set up for a voltmeter. If you look at the page your posting on you will see a thread about two rows down that will give you tons of information on the ammeter. If yours is not wired like the original harness it will not work, but I think it is covered in that thread and if you need any help on wiring it right we will bee happy to do that.
