Sounds like you have enough to keep you busy for a while.

I stopped by today and talked with the guy. Really nice. His father was a diesel mechanic and stretched it 16 inches to put a dt466 diesel in it. Started it for me and wow. Also installed a bagged rear end to pull heavy stuff. Last pic is of the bike we grabbed. I have more pics of truck I can post tonight.

Thanks for coming through for our curiosity!

I'd love to see more pics. Very interesting build. What trans is it mated with?

Crap. Didn’t ask that. Sorry.

On a side note I asked the guy I got the bike from and he knew of it. He said he should have used a 5.9 Cummins out of a bread truck. He said later that he had a couple in his yard and that he would take 1000 for one he had on a stand with an Allison tranny attached. He thought that was a good price but I have no idea nor interest.

More pics.

I agree- DT466's were inline 6 cylinders, this looks like a DT444 or 7.3L but hard to tell. Definitely not an inline.

Re: Not photoshopped. Odd truck

Halftrack, thanks for getting the info. It's interesting to me that they went to all the work to shoe horn that thing in there. I can't remember if you have a squarebody project to do along with the VW, Honda, etc. But if you do, would you consider starting a build thread here? You could also throw in bits and pieces of the other stuff you're working on. Many of us have more than one thing we're working on and it's always cool to see glimpses of others' interests.

We've had a DT466 in a couple of fire trucks, and I don't think there is any way you could get one in a pickup without cutting a hole in the hood. It's the height as well as the length (not to mention the weight!).

I am not familiar with the diesels so just repeated what the son told me it was. It was a v engine not inline so you are correct on that. What exactly the engine is I don’t know. Should have asked more questions and taken more pics.
