*Cheap Oil Change*
Got around to doing my "CHEAP" oil change yesterday. Some months back our local Pepboys went out of business. I made a couple trips there and I bought all the Castrol 5W-30 motor oil (10 quarts) they had plus what was left of the Transmax DEX/MERC (5 quarts) transmission fluid they had. With everything I bought it ended up being about $2 a quart for the oil. The Purolator filter was $1. $13 dollar oil change. Not to bad.

Re: *Cheap Oil Change*
That's really good pricing and quality product to boot.
I use the Purolator filters too for truck and Rambler when I can find them. Wix filters don't work in my Rambler because the anti-drain back valves don't work. It took me two filters to find that out. I bought an expensive ultimate Fram cartridge for the Volvo and upon removal found that it had collapsed. They can't handle a start up on a cold soaked engine. Actually for Volvo and VW I do now buy OEM. It hurts though to pay about $15 for a paper cartridge without any tin around it. |
