Contemplating S10 purchase

Hi all,

I know it's not good manners to get into pricing via the forum but I haven't owned a first gen S10 before so not overly familiar with these things. I know the 4.3L is a notoriously good engine.

I'm looking to replace my current daily driver with an inexpensive 4x4 that might last and took this 19896 for a drive last night. Has 88K on a 4.3L auto and seemed very tight. Quite motor, no leaks and tight front end with no rust. He is asking $3500 but it needs a windshield, probably a round of tires, and the paint recently started peeling (considerably). If I offered $2500 would this be reasonable or an insult? Also does the peeling paint mean imminent rust problems on the horizon?

Thanks for any help!

That's sounds like a fair price. I have a 1989 4.3 liter/700R4 combo too, it is almost too much for that little truck. Paint peeling is common on those years of GM trucks. The wheels will not interchange with a 2WD is kind of a bummer, the offset is different.
mine had an idle issue plus the front main seal and valve seals leak with over 130K on the odometer, it was an old USAF truck from Plant 42 in Palmdale, CA.

Yours looks like it has the Tahoe package, nice little truck.
