Junkyard crawl... northern edition

Went up to alaska for 8 days to visit my brother. I flew in, so no tools or truck to haul things. Still had alot of fun and hit a few yards up just to see what was there. I was surprised how many older vehicles are in the yards. On with the pics....

And yes pic 3 is a set of 4, 15x8 steelies that are probably so buried they may never be found again!

Re: Junkyard crawl... northern edition

That's a shame about those 6 lug steelies. I bought 2 at a swap meet that had been used for a mailbox post. They had a couple of welds to clean up on each.

And more yet...

Pic 1 is a radio the was a ceiling mount in a c-70 type truck. I should have grabbed it, but shipping from alaska is VERY expensive, so i was picky about what i bought.

Looks like a fun trip! That roof .out radio pod would have been cool to have. I saw one like it in a C/60 years ago.

That stands out to me as well. Eric, would you mind running back up there and grab that? Just don't bring anything in your luggage. It should fit. I'll even pay an extra 20 bucks!

That burb was sad to see with that list of options. I wanted the glove box door but figured i would leave it in hopes someone wants to save the rest. I bought the hubs off it was all.

If shipping wasn't so crazy i would have grabbed it. It was cool and in decent condition.

Re: Junkyard crawl... northern edition

A good while back I spotted a '71 K/20 Suburban sitting. Looked it over and it had all the options you could want. They had pulled the badass engine they built and selling w/o engine. And I had a '71 truck 350 ready to slip in. I thought they wanted too much for back then and I only messed with rust free. This thing had pretty bad rust. Years later I meet Jeff's Bowtie and he knew exactly what Suburban I was talking about. I don't think there's a 67-72 sitting within site of the road in the MD/VA/PA/WVA 4-state area we don't know about. both have eagle eyes for these trucks. You never saw such a suburban in this area. I wish I had coughed up the money
