Aftermarket Hood Struts: A Good Idea?

Has anyone purchased new aftermarket hood hinges that use a strut-style design like these? https://www.ebay.com/itm/EMS-STRUT-M...P/332724816739

I was curious if these help at all with hood alignment and gap issues, particularly fitment at the rear of the hood? Mine sticks up too far at the rear. I know I can improve it by working on it a bit more, but curious if these make adjusting and fit a lot easier, worse, or the same.

I have the EMS hinges and the struts you have a link to. I think hood alignment was better than stock worn hinges or the reproduction Chinese hinges.

I've been happy with the hinges but the struts aren't the greatest. The hood will fall down occasionally, only seems to happen when I have my head under there.

If you do decide to buy them contact Matt's Classic Bowties. They're a vendor on this forum and if you call or email them, they will beat any price.

yowza! that price hurts my eyes!

i've prototyped a lot of hood strut kits for cars and trucks using struts and brackets from mcmaster-carr
$18 for gas springs and $3 for brackets

struts do push up on the back of the hood, chances are if stocks springs are pushing up, struts will too

ogre designed all the gas struts and brackets for truk
