2wd motor mount replacement

So, I'm doing the motor mounts on my 98. Drivers side goes fine. Move on to passenger side. Bottom two bolts no problem. But the last one, the top, somehow the access is different between the two sides and my wobbly is pretty much at a 90* angle to get on the nut. No way in hell to turn it, or even get enough traction to hold it in place while I turn the bolt. Am I missing something, or do I really need to pull the lower control arm on the passenger side?

Re: 2wd motor mount replacement

I did mine recently on my '93. It was a pain, and I had the motor out. I don't remember exactly what I did, but I didn't remove the control arm. I think I taped two wrenches together and held it with that and unscrewed from above.

^^yes, extra long wrench or tape two together to hold it. You can do it without removing the control arm but it is a PITA. Impact comes in handy too if you have the motor out.

Re: 2wd motor mount replacement

So yeah, with lowering springs, there is no way to do with without removing the passenger control arm in the rear for access. FYI.

Re: 2wd motor mount replacement

Been here and passed on that. Both of the mounts on my 97 Ho need to be replaced. When I saw what it took to do it, I returned the mounts. The vibration is not that much, and the engine is not going anywhere with the turn buckle I put on the drivers side.

DONE!
