behind the seat gas tank question?

Anybody got any of the new gas tanks that fit behind the seat? I have heard people are having problems and they aren't fitting right? Anybody know where I can pick up a good one at?

Re: behind the seat gas tank question?

My buddy bought a repop tank and he had to hog out a few of the mounting holes because they didn't line up, but other than that the fit was o.k. I think his came from Classic Parts of America.

Re: behind the seat gas tank question?

You may have to redrill the holes to any tank that's a repro. I had to do it on mine several years ago. Not sure why they bother to drill holes that don't line up. Probably the only way you can get one to fit these days is to get a used one or, if you can find it, a NOS.

If you do get one and can get it sealed, I'd recommend it. Never know when your truck may have to be stored for a while. Mine has been parked for a few years and the fuel tank has rusted up pretty bad. May have to get another one.
