Re: my mcafee shows problems

I have never been a big mcafee fan...always seems it catches problems that aren't problems and misses viruses.

My suspicion is that it's seeing the banner ads as suspicious.

McKafee is the corrupt bed fellow of Microsoft. It comes automatically with Windows whether you use an honest security provider or not. McKafee is no better than a virus themselves. They post these scare tactic pop-ups with the hopes you'll be scared into "buying" their even better pay services. If you have a legit provider, I use Avast, you will see there is no known threat. Those pop-ups are a scam

Re: my mcafee shows problems

well I have the extra mc afee subscription also . so I guess I am a dummy . I use to have avast for years and I thought it worked pretty good , then one day my laptop crashed and a big banner from avast appeared on the screen and advised me that if I did not call this phone # that my computer would crash . all my kids would die and the town I live in would crumble .
so I called the # and a avast rep answered and said for around $200.00 they could fix every thing , I said I would have to think about it and would call them back . talked to the wife and look back to see how long it had been sence I bought the $30.00 a year extra package from them . about 30 days had past . so I called the # back and talked to the avast rep and advised them of the purchase and she said this was different , so I talked them down to $170.00 , they took over my laptop and it took about 45 min. .....every thing appeared to be good , then about two weeks later it happened again so I call the # and a avast rep advised it was a different deal and I would have to pay another $200.00 ......well I bought a new laptop and the other one may never work again .....it big time crashed ....so I am not sure what to do.....I guess its time for a new laptop .....well dang .....Don

Re: my mcafee shows problems

I've only had McKafee harass me with pop-ups that freeze my computer to tell me it is unprotected and it has viruses when it is in fact protected (just not by them) and my security provider shows no viruses. In fact, everything was fine except for the relentless annoying pop-ups that I consider to be a virus
