Lettering - yeh or neh

About to throw some new wheels on the truck as we get started on it. Pic below is of them just rolled up to the truck to see how they'll look. I'm about to put new rubber on (same size - 255/70/15) and am trying to decide whether it would look best black wall or white letters showing. May have to photoshop to see what they'll look like. Lugs will be chrome too.

What the wheels are replacing...

I vote for blackwalls. Raised white letters are for teenagers.

I like all black, or whitewalls. White letters aren't really my cup of tea, but i'm sure your truck will look great regardless!

bummer, i was just about to order a set with raised white letters. guess i need to re-consider my truck plans, and possibly my identity... lol!

depends on the look you're going for, but based on the fact you are going away from stock and more towards custom, i would say rwl since they would create a more sporty/custom look.

I like the blackwalls ONLY because they're larger and fill the wheel well better.

Re: Lettering - yeh or neh

I'm not a Raised White Letter fan for our trucks and in fact had mine turned around so the blackmails would show. White walls are okay but that is for a different thread. Looking at your truck as a whole I think your P255/70R15 Cooper Cobras with blackwalls out on 15 x 8 80's rally wheels would look super on your truck by standing tall and filling the wheel wells.

I will admit to being young at heart also (politically correct also!). Unfortunately the RWL on mine scuff through very easily. I hate the city curbs!

Those old red line tires have their place also.

I'll have to check. Bought them on Craigslist as a Christmas present for my son so they are over at the neighbors house right now so he doesn't see them.

Re: Lettering - yeh or neh

I went from BFG TA KOs on crappy old chrome 16.5" to new BFG TA KO2s on new satin black 16" steelies (WheelVintiques), so I went with blackwalls and black lugnuts. Eventually, I'll put on the correct dog dish caps, and I'll use that to put a bit of color on the wheels.

Those coopers have nice a nice sporty font... I think it will make the truck look more sporty for sure.

Have a great Thanksgiving too!

I'm not a fan of RWL for my own rides, but I gotta admit all of the trucks in this thread look dang good with them. Why not mount one side RWL out and the other in for a few days? For a few bucks spent you'll know for sure.

Re: Lettering - yeh or neh

I still like white raised letters, don't mind black walls ether, i hate whitewalls.

I am a 55 year old teenager, i think it has to do more with what was popular as a young kid or teen growing up more than anything.

Re: Lettering - yeh or neh

I always did blackwalls back when most people ran white letters. White letters are not for teenagers. Most today wouldn't even know what they are since the trend has moved to blackwalls. White letters say performance (race cars is where it started) and in the right application they are perfect. For the super clean look, blackwalls are the way to go. The only time white letters are cool at all is when they are on good name tires. It's totally uncool to show off some off brand company. The company has to be tied to racing.

Raised white letters came about for street vehicles with Wide Ovals which came out smack dab right when these trucks did. Ever heard of Hugger Orange? It all depends on the vibe of the truck.

Couldn't agree more! I also think they look especially good on white trucks.
