Re: cracked flexplate sound but not cracked ?
update. Got new flex plate, starter, harmonic balancer and freshened up the dist. Still have the noise. Pulled plug wires one at a time while running and still the noise. Starter has lots of room when running but might throw a shim in there and see. Took valve covers off again and turned motor over with no ign. power and no noise and valve train all looked good. The next simple thing to try is mech. fuel pump. I,ve read alot of noises coming from there. I getting stumped without actually taking the motor apart which is OK if I have to do it. If you think of other tests I should try please let me know. The noise is the same at all times , hot or cold but only when running. Oil pressure is good

Re: cracked flexplate sound but not cracked ?
Suggest you change the distributor out....
When you have it out, check the end play on the camshaft...can almost guarantee there is too much end float on the cam....it will chew up the gear on the distributor and cause a similar sound to what is in your video.

Re: cracked flexplate sound but not cracked ?
Well , I talked to my nephew and he has raced oval track cars for along time from crappy hit to pass to modified. He had the same problem one day and when they removed the oil pan some of the windage tray had broke loose and there was apiece hitting the crank or rod and making the ting ting noise. Makes sense to me as nothing changes the sound on mine and stethoscope would not find it . Here,s hoping
