Need help switching from automatic to standard

I have a 72 with a 350/350 setup going to switch to 454 and a 4 speed muncie but the 454 has a flex plate and the car I'm getting the muncie from is a small block.... My question is when I get a flywheel can I have it balanced to match ? Or should I do something else?? Any suggestions is greatly appreciated..... Thanks in advance...

A 454 BBC and 400 SBC is externally balanced. 350 and the rest are internally balanced. You will have to buy a 454 specific flywheel or you will make serious balance problems. They have a large long weight cast into them. Just an fyi... The balancers are also different

Ok but what I am really wanting to know is can I buy a new 454 flywheel and have it balanced to match the flexplate that is on the 454 now and just switch them out or will I have to have it rebalanced with all the internals at the machine shop??? basically I just really don't want to take it apart if I don't have to....lol

You can just get the 454 flywheel and run it. The crankshaft should be drilled for the pilot bearing/bushing.
Check the bell housing casting number to see what diameter flywheel and clutch it is for and purchase accordingly.

What year model is the 454?

See this link as it has all the info you will need...just ignore the popup ads etc....

Also...wondering why you want to swap in Muncie...I think a simpler route would be a stout TH400 or a 4L80e auto...just my opinion...

It's a 84 454 … I just have the 4 speed Muncie …. also I'm a junkie for that old school stuff.... I know it's probably gonna make someone mad but I'm trading a 5.3 ls for the 454....lol don't really care tho… and the truck also has all the clutch pedal stuff anyway... I just left it in when I switched to a 350/350 setup before...
