Paint over bare metal foil?

I've got a quick question for you guys who have been doing high detail models for a while. I recently started working with bare metal foil, and am curious if I can paint over it once it is installed. I need to do some detail color work on trim and badges, and would like to clear the whole thing when done. I just have too much work into the paint and detail on the couple cars to take a chance at having to strip it all and start over. So how bout it fellas, can I paint over the top of this foil, or will it really screw up my work?

Thanks.
