67-72 headlight buckets

the black metal part the headlight fits into..
is it the same as all 7" g.m. buckets.. or do I need to find truck ones..
i'm thinking they are all the same..
the new headlights require holes drilled in the buckets for the halo ring and the blue accent bulb ..
and need to pick up a pair..
thanks

Re: 67-72 headlight buckets

I am not sure how many different kinds there are but I know the 67-68 Chevy and the 69-72 are different. I am not sure about the GMC small headlights. Are you wanting new or used?

Re: 67-72 headlight buckets

no idea if any par parts swap...
67/68 same p/n
69/70 same p/n
71/72 same p/n
all are intechangable, but none swap without work (drilling/cutting)

I think maybe I worded this wrong.. cause I can't see why a 70 would be different from a 71-72
not the trim around the headlight.. the part that it sits in.. that the s/s ring bolts to that holds the headlight..
and has 2 adjustment screws and a spring holding it to the core support..
they are different ,?

Re: 67-72 headlight buckets

I know there not the same as a gmc of the same years but may be the same or similar for 73/79 trucks. I don't really know for sure.

Re: 67-72 headlight buckets

And here is somewhat proof.
http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cb/full.aspx?Page=162
look at the part numbers.
Like I said, you can MAKE them work... I learned about this when I put a 68 nose on my 72 burb and didn't have 68 buckets. I had 72 buckets, and 69 buckets.

If wanting a direct/match/no monkey business fit for 67/68 chev or 69-72 chev, locate them from a donor truck matching the year span needed as they are a little different from each other. Mel

67/68 Chevy both L. & R. side use same headlight mounting bucket OE GM p/n 924535.

69-72 Chevy L. side headlight mounting bucket OE GM p/n 5961886.

69-72 Chevy R. side headlight mounting bucket OE GM p/n 5961887.
