curious about noise

When I shut my 2003 5.3 off and it is cooling down I have a clack noise that sounds like it is coming from the transmission pan . I noticed it a few weeks ago because I was under there with the truck off replacing the o2 sensor then the other day doing an oil change. the clack or loud tap happens on a slow interval about a minute apart. I'm just curious what could be cooling off and giving such a loud tight tap.

Re: curious about noise

I had a Suburban that did that after coming home from a highway trip. It would pop several minutes after shutdown. I thought it was the cat or muffler.
