New plastic float or replace the whole fuel sending unit

Pretty sure my float on my sending unit is shot. Rests at 1/4 and goes to full but doesn’t seem to read well.

I’ve been reading that newer units have faulty brass floats. Where can I buy a plastic float that will work with the original unit? Name, part number...?

If the original unit is shot when I take it out, is there a replacement brand you all suggest?

Try the float first. Much cheaper. Then if the whole sending unit is shot, try one from GMC Paul. He's a member here, owns a truck like ours, and only sells what works best. His prices are competitive.
