I put mine on the bottom side. Screwed them in place first then removed one screw at a time and plug welded them in. Seem sealed all the edges and undercoated the bottom side, painted the top side and covered with Dynamat!

Today I had planned to get the propane tanks at the side of the framerails.
I had to modify more as planned...

I knew I had to take a piece out of the cabcorner, this doesn't matter because you don't see it.
After some measurements I came to the conclusion I also had to modify the step inside the cab.
I'm glad I have a longbed, otherwise it didn't fit at all

So I took my buddy The Grinder and take a piece out of the cabcorners and out of the steps...

This is one of two propane tanks that going to be mounted next to the framerails:



They measure 125 cm x 25 cm (49,2" x 9,8")

I drilled the holes for the brackets to hold the tanks and test fitted them.









I must say, they fit pretty good, it's a shame I had to cut into the steps, but propane is so much cheaper to drive than petrol overhere. I really do not want anything in the bed if it isn't really neccesary.
Sometimes you must sacrifice some....

With the bed on, you don't see the tanks, and that's what I wanted.
You don't even see the modified steps with the doors closed

I found the cabcorneres in pretty good shape, some small holes, the inner corners weren't so bad either. So I grinded the last 2 inch off of the inner cabcorners to open them up. The rest of it stays. There came a few kilos of rubbish out of it! The small holes will be repaired and undercoated, just like the rest of the entire underside.

Now with this done, I can clean up the rear frame and put some paint on it.
Then take care of the IRS, clean it up, new brakes on and paint it.
All goes to plan

I took all the parts off of the frame again, cleaned it a bit so it's ready for paint.



I also took the halfshafts off of the IRS, I need longer wheel studs in it, mount new brake discs etc.
I need a press to get the flange off, I'll try that Saturday...





The Brittish know how to put an axle together... it won't fall apart, everthing was so tightened, the waterdrops stood on my back

Jag IRS has American Dana 44 center section. I like how they did that.

Gary, Jag used two different types of centers, Dana and Salisbury, they look alike but are just a tad different. Don't know which I got just yet.

I put some primer on the rear frame and the parts of the IRS today.



I think it needs another coat and then the black can go up.
This week is the final mounting of the IRS (I hope )
Then on to the front, and finish that part.

I did not know they used Salisbury, the cover sure looks like a Dana 44. Have fun painting!

man, I don't know if it would want those propane tanks sitting there exposed if you get hit from the side. I would try to place in them inside the frame rail.

ChuckDriver, IRS is just going to be painted. Nothing fancy, it's going to be a daily driver you know

I drove for years this way with a Chevy Van, never had any issues with it, just hoping the "other people" would look out some...

After two coats of primer, now one coat black.
Just one black coat to go



I took the IRS apart to get a good look at it (had not done that yet...)
There was only one broken bolt, a bad one!
The lower control arm are hold by a "bridge" that is bolted to the diff with only two bolts each side.
Left side was loose, and at the right side was one broken, not really a good thing
It sure is a good thing I clean things up before I mount it on the truck
What good about it is that the diff itself and the power lock is really clean
