Thanks for the heads up to this company Joe. Seat covers cut down on labor costs. CARSinc needs to post more photos of their available covers!

Re: Sierra Custom Package?

70cst, yeah it was a bit confusing for sure but I guess GM did a lot of this not only with trucks but cars too (tailoring packages to the initial buyer).

Re: Sierra Custom Package?

That's pretty unique that one hasn't turned up before now.
So how is it badged?
Sierra emblem on side of box and Custom script under side windows?
Would you post some more photos? Thanks

Re: Sierra Custom Package?

SMS Auto Fabrics should have your vinyl and cloth. They can emboss the center vinyl too. You can request samples. I ordered mine from them and then had a shop in town do my seat.

Re: Sierra Custom Package?

Nice! I'm going to have to do the seat in my truck, but I'm leaning towards parchment instead of the factory SPID black, given the difference in butt and leg blisters, here in the California sun. Pending approval from the female spousal unit, there is a chunk of foam with a towel over it.

Sounds like a really neat combo...can you post a pic or two of the outside of your truck?

I had them make me a set of saddle w/saddle houndtooth bucket seat covers back in '91 for a Cheyenne Super I mildly customized with factory-like appearance. They were top quality from the material to the craftsmanship. This was around when ready-made OEM style seat covers just became available. But the catalogs only carried a few colors/styles

Re: Sierra Custom Package?

Thanks RustyTruck50. It is a color combo I had not seen before. I've waffled back and forth on whether to sand the surface rust off and clear it, or repaint it. Next is convert to disc and do a static drop...after I restore the interior.

Re: Sierra Custom Package?

I'd run it just like that...paint-wise...a little satin or the flattest clear you can find to maintain the patina until you decide to go a different route
Sounds like you have a good plan in place!

Re: Sierra Custom Package?

I'd paint it. It would look really good with a crisp white paint job and stand out from all the patina trucks you see everywhere.

I can't argue with that reasoning either, Tim. Patina is more budget friendly

Re: Sierra Custom Package?

Yeah, and I agree there's no hurry. Patina fits my budget. Just looks like an easy resto from here and something about a factory trim white long bed is sexy.

Re: Sierra Custom Package?

Have you checked to see if you have a build sheet in the seat springs? Most Fremont built trucks do. You will see it, either in the bottom, or the back of the seat if it’s still there

Re: Sierra Custom Package?

Joesjunk it looks like there is a build sheet under the seat but it has deteriorated, and there is another one on the back of the seat that is in good shape, but I don't have a tilt seat so I'd have to unbolt the seat to get to it.

I have seen build sheets with different info on them, it’s possible it might help explain the Serria custom option. Would love to see it if you decide to pull the seat and get a picture of it

Re: Sierra Custom Package?

Assembly plants weren't always on the same page when it came to listing the option descriptions on spids. We have seen Z62 described as custom group or custom deluxe equip. Z 81 as camper nameplate or special camper. N 40 power steering as hydraulic steering. Z 17 has been listed as sierra grande truck or sierra grande custom. The option code Z 16 would be more important than the description.
