trans swapping question 350-700

I am looking to swap a 700 in place of my current 350 trans. I cant find a page someone had with legnth specifications, so I am wondering if anyone here could tell me- Is a 700r4 the same legnth as a 350? Now I thought I heard that trucks used a longer tail shaft than a car had, which would make the swap a direct one WITHOUT shortening the driveshaft.
My truck is a daily driver and that is why I am concerned that it would be a direct swap.
Can anyone verify or tell me otherwise of what I heard?

Just found out the 700 is 23 1/8" and the 350 is around 21". But please post your experience if you have done the swap because I am looking to do this perhaps this summer.

I have done it. I needed a driveshaft modified for the older style yok of the rear end. 76 chassis. had to drill one hole for the 700 crossmember. and that was it.

I swapped a 700 in place of my 9" tailshaft 350 last summer. They were the same overall length. I cant remember the exact number, but they were the same. The mount location is further back on the 700 so you have to move the crossmember back and drill the holes. I drilled all four, I could have used some existing holes but I wanted my xmember sqaure in the frame.

If you currently have a 9" tailshaft 350 you shouldnt have to mod the driveshaft. `

Nice. Thanks Bluex. I gotta measure mine and check it out. I probably should have shortened my driveshaft already though because when I did the flip kit, i couldnt get the u-joint back on the pinion yoke. It was like a half inch too tight. I had to unbolt the rear axle, slide it back, bolt the driveshaft, and then move the axle back into place. The brackets were supposed to correct it, but it was just too tight.

But I have owned a few rides and driven a few others with 700r4's and I think it would feel like a whole different truck. I just wanna get it done.
