Must have been an aftermarket engine. I'm pretty sure the old Poly 318 I kept in it was a granny engine.

Re: Pic Thread: Cool Old Cars
Short bed! Very cool old truck. I see trucks of the teens restored to immaculate condition at ATHS shows. I love these early trucks.
This car is 6 years newer, a '21 Lincoln L-series. I guess L means El Camino. Should be an R for Ranchero

Pretty sure it had a 413 in it. I never asked him to open the hood, though.

Re: Pic Thread: Cool Old Cars
My 6th grade teacher had one of these. He would go fishing in it.
He also had a cool camper van like this one. I wasn't thrilled when I found out that I was in his class. He had a reputation for being a real hard azz. And I wasn't the best student. But in the end he was a cool guy. But I learned fast not to mouth off to him. He got sick with cancer half way through the school year and was replaced with my worst nightmare. My new teacher was one of my mom's best friends. I couldn't get away with anything or she'd tell my mom.

AmphiCar, ey? The Dodge is an Explorer conversion. Both quite collectible fer sher.
That early International truck made me realize we haven't touched on the early 'cool cars". How about that early speedster. Looks hand-built. First hot rod. Might be a cycle car?

Those big old Buicks were never my favorites but those 40s to 50s straight 8 engines had a sound all their own I tell ya.

Re: Pic Thread: Cool Old Cars
I was at one time collecting parts to build a clone of this car with a 12v Cummins in it but ended up selling the roadster body I had and then couldn't find any other to replace it. I still have the frame buried now. It came from a vermeer trencher. Maybe someday I'll get around to doing one. Those early racers like these intrigue me.

Re: Pic Thread: Cool Old Cars
I read the history of Cummins and it's interesting that in those early days of automobile, which Cummins was a part of, he used the race track to promote his product. The idea of diesel cars was being pushed as well as heavy trucks. That Packard Roadster shown was the first car he put an engine in, but it was car no. 8 that was most well known for getting the public's attention running the Indy500. The car is a '31 Duesenberg.
The company began with making engines for stationary power units in 1919. It wasn't until '29 that he got the idea to run one in a vehicle.

Re: Pic Thread: Cool Old Cars
Cool old concept car. I'd own it!
I guess GM felt the same in the Vette's beginnings with the Olds F88 concept... that I think is cool as all get out I like this little Cadillac Lemans roadster for more intimate motoring

This might be in keeping with the theme:
This is a 1917 Olympian. Made in Pontiac Michigan, there are two known to remain. One is sitting on my trailer in this picture; the other is inside the building in the background. K
