My dad drove a 59 rambler and a v-8 vega to school, I guess that's why I get a cool car

Re: C10 Derek, my first car

Very respectable build, especially for a first, man I drove an old 56 Ford 4 door for my first car, was a tank and held lots of girls, so alright, not so cool but since then been hooked and had over 100 hotrods of all types, nothing but fun, after the work that is, haha. Keep it going, we are watching this one, glad you have your Dad, mine got me started too.

Re: C10 Derek, my first car

This truck is sick. I like that color blue on the chassis. Anyways, just a few questions about your truck can defiantly help me on mine.

1: Those pullies. Where did you get them? They look almost like they came off a supercharger.

2: Engine bay. What is the width of the firewall where the engine sits at? I'm trying to do the same with mine and can't quite get a number I like.

Keep on rockin with the truck. You and your dad are doing a great job.

low&slow The pulleys can be found on ebay or procomp electronics but there site is hard to navigate, the firewall is from direct sheet metal in san diego, it comes as a kit to re-do the whole firewall and you can order it with deeper engine set back if you would like, ck them out online there is good info, cheers the dad

Re: C10 Derek, my first car

wow dude! thats awesome! such a sick truck! I got mine at 15 also, I'm 17 now and trying to finish up my air bag setup, trust everyone who tells you "they're never done" haha. I drove mine for the summer and fall last year, and restoring it was a ton of fun! Definately the best way to learn auto mechanics for sure. Super clean, sweet truck, jealous! Cool to see another kid on here! (Also my name is Derek too, nice to meet you haha)

Re: C10 Derek, my first car

You gotta give your dad alot of credit for being so cool, willing to teach, hang out and just being there for you. Sure alot of people envy you over such a great dad you got and looks like the 2 of you have built a very nice truck.

Cluster is in, fired it and broke in the new cam weekend before last, lots more air ride plumbing to do, dad machined out the new/used heater control, where going to make a plate to fit inside and mount air ride switches there.
