I love stories like that. I'd rat rod the truck and COPO the 65. And as usual, great pics.

Re: Saturday pics (1-24) Rescue mission!!

Nice pics, I would go the S10 frame swap, easy and the parts are cheap and readily available. Plus you'll have the modern stuff, brakes and IFS.

deviantart.com, a photography site. Sorta the OG of the photography site like Red Bubble and Flickr.

Mine is: http://texanidiot25.deviantart.com/

Figured since you do a good bit of photography that you may have had one.

Re: Saturday pics (1-24) Rescue mission!!

I always find it a little sad lookin at a guys stuff (a guy like us that is) who has passed, and we are able to look at his world just the way he left it, his place where he knew what everything was for and his tools layed out where he wanted them...it was all so important and valuable to him and now it's all just forgotten rusty old stuff hangin on walls and resting on shelves.

Sorry to bring a downer to the thread....nice pics as always see.
I'm off to slit my rists

Re: Saturday pics (1-24) Rescue mission!!

I guess I see your point in the sadness of thinking that someone who thought so much of their tools and possesions is gone.

But I also saw the happiness of the man who was able to recall memories and tell us stories about his grandpa and the tools and trucks. The excitement on his face seeing that truck getting loaded and then moved to his garage tells another story entirely. Makes me think that Pops memory is going to be around for years to come.

I envy you. Dude, when I go into places like that I have this light-headed feeling. The packrat in me would want to take everything but the weeds home. Everything nostalgic just looks cool on the walls. Old stuff like that is like gold to me. Thanks for sharing those pics and RIP to the good ol guy. I'm sure he's working on a cool ride wherever he is.

Re: Saturday pics (1-24) Rescue mission!!

Eightbanger has a point I did not see. I too had a great uncle and a grandfather who was very good mechanically. All their tools and stuff sat untouched for years. I was previledged to get there tools. Now looking back, I can see where I got my desire to "wrench" and to have excess amount of "stuff" to get my wrenching fix. I look back and think about the old skool ways and Im so glad I had family like that, and I truly wish I could have had a chance to be skooled in their ways. I have a great appreciation for the old days and the tools they used. The 69 I drive now is the truck I grew up in for almost forty years.
