1968 Anniversary 4x4 Value?

I wondered that also. Maybe one is the front axle and one is the rear? They have different option codes maybe someone can decipher them. Here's a better picture of the SPID.



Unfortunately the 327 is gone. It has a newer 350 in it.

Here's a better picture of the carburetor also. I'm not very knowledgeable on them so IDK what it would have come out of. I also found it interesting that it has a HEI distributor. I didn't think there was enough room to fit them in a 4X4 truck.

The carb number is on the drivers side on a that flat surface parallel with the secondary throttle shaft.
Post the number, myself or others can identify the carb. You will likely want a Chevy carb, eventually...

There may be a dent in that firewall to make that HEI fit...

My '69 fits the HEI just fine without mods to the firewall. I can even change the cap and rotor without cussing (most of the time).

Mine was not a posi, 3.07 gear and has a steel floor

Just from appearances the carb looks like a mid-70's Oldsmobile Quadrajet. The number is stamped on the driver's side by the secondary linkage- as was stated. That will narrow down the original application and build date.

Hmmm, I have no 4WD knowledge...could both axles be posi???

This is from a 68 K20, so yes, it was possible to order a posi in the front axle. The only one I’ve ever seen.......

Buncha stuff on that SPID I have never seen...shoulder harness for one, and I wonder what that fuel filter option is???

Some Chevy q-jets had front fuel inlets as well so that doesn't always indicate it as a BOP Q-jet.

Weren't the front inlet Chevy carbs, big block carbs???

That Olds carb may be a very good carb to have. I believe it's an APT carb, a big plus and I don't think it has the huge air bleeds in it like many O.E. 80's checvy carbs did.
You could get a shorter fuel filter inlet nut, (not sure if the shorter filter would be able to be used, doing so, but an inline filter could be used). The shorter nut may allow you to bend a steel line around from the side easier, and keep it away from the thermostat housing, easier...

www.Cliffshighpermormance.com can set you up with all the needed parts for that specific engine, and can convert it to an electric choke.
Cliffs knowledge and huge available amount of parts can allow him to calibrate that or any carb for it's specific engine it goes on, even jets and metering rods (the originals are likely worn...) He sells a kit that allows one to install new bushings in the primary throttle shaft plate, a mod that is always needed...

Anything more than $500 is too much. needs a new bed/fenders/hood/doors and in all likelyhood a cab since the roof is probably toast as well as the floors and cab etc.....Now that I think about it $500 is probably way too much.

But I am old and cheap .....

I've seen one or two Blazers and Jimmies with positraction on both axles but that option is extremely rare.

I appreciate the info. It runs good enough for now but this will all be helpful when I have the time to start fixing it.

The cab is surprisingly solid besides the floor (And rockers and cab corners obviously) but the bed is toast except the tailgate which is very straight. The front clip is straight as an arrow and I’m hoping to be able to salvage a good chunk of it.

I think you paid a good price for it. I'm not sure we are to the point where general folks are knowledgeable enough to understand what an anniversary truck is, most are hung up on Cheyenne Super. Hopefully the day will come where it will be worth a bit more for you just because of the anniversary option. The spid has a lot of cool stuff on it.

I’m ok with the price. I was thinking it was worth more like $1500 but I couldn’t pass it up considering it’s a K10. It’s only the 2nd one I’ve ever seen for sale in the 7-8 years I’ve been on this forum.

It might be worth it to get the rusty spots media or even sand blasted, to stop the corrosion process. I took mine to my work about 10 years ago, and sanded down all the rust spots, then sanded the rest of the vehicle slightly and sprayed it with cheap black paint, to help preserve it. I did not have rust issues like yours, and the trim had already been removed by me when I bought it in 1980, it WAS trash!

When you decide to rebuild that carb, or find a Chevy Q-Jet, let me know, Q-Jets are NOT all the same!!!
