engine. . . .paint. . . HELP!

In a week or maybe two, I will be pulling my motor to replace all the gaskets. . .I saw this as the perfect oppurtunity to paint my block, valve covers, power brake booster, master cylinder, brake calipers, and drum brakes. . .etc. . . .BUT the color is the problem. . .i WANT the interior blue color. . .to make the truck look less plain (all white) but i know it's a ford color on a chevy motor. . .i don't think it matters but apparently it does to some?? comments?

Thanks all!

Chase

Re: engine. . . .paint. . . HELP!

Take some engine bright and spray on then hose off and clean up with brake clean and rags. Spray away.

Re: engine. . . .paint. . . HELP!

I don't know but that the orange might really look good against the blue. It for sure would make the engine stand out...

Otherwise, it's your truck, paint any color you feel would look good to you...

Maybe someone can post a pic of the engine painted to give you an idea. I'm sure lots of people here have at least one pic of their engine...

Re: engine. . . .paint. . . HELP!

I wanted a red motor when I put the motor in my chevelle. The only red engine paint I could find locally was called "Ford Red". It ran great for years. Only broke because I broke it. Don't let that stop you from painting however you want. I don't know how the orange block with blue valve covers will look, but go for it, you can repaint or add chrome ones after the fact really easy later. Its your truck, do it how you want it done. Good luck, and keep us posted, with pics ofcourse.

Re: engine. . . .paint. . . HELP!

chevy used blue paint to you know, later on in the 70's like in 75ish. so did pontiac, a lighter shade though. so even if you did paint it blue, you could use that excuse!

imo stay away from the orange and blue... doenst sound to good to me, but hey it is YOUR truck.

Re: engine. . . .paint. . . HELP!

Ok thanks for all the input, especially the assist with the excuse!! haha

I talked to my buddy and we are going to pull the motor either this next weekend or the one right after. (hopefully this weekend) When we do, I have decided that i am going to paint the a/c, master cyl., block, valve covers, and power brake booster. . .all the interior blue. . .that weekend i also will be sanding and repainting door panels, armrests, hopefully putting in a new steering wheel, replacing all gaskets. . .and fixing a rusted and deteriorated brace under the cab. . .i will definately keep you updated and post pics as soon as it happens. . .once again, i appreciate t all so much!!

Re: engine. . . .paint. . . HELP!

Paint it whatever color you want. In my old bronco, I painted the engine CAT yellow. Then when I swapped in a big block I painted it Ingersoll Rand Beige. looked like a calf crapped on it but I didn't care its mine. The 327 I am putting in my 67 is chevy orange with black valve covers and master cylinder.

Just my opinion

Re: engine. . . .paint. . . HELP!

My engine is chevy orange & my interior is black just the way the General wanted it. Im kidding, Ive had small blocks painted ford blue before. The color didnt really effect the way it ran. Do it however you like, some will like it some wont...

Thank You.
It took me a while to decide if I was going to keep the stock valve covers or the chrome. I decided that it might be just a little too much orange. The FlyEye filter will be gone in the next couple of weeks too. I am getting a stock one from a friend. That filter I have now is too much of a fire hazard.

@ bcbasketball11 -
Good luck and have fun painting yours. Remember - Donīt rush yourself, stay patient and make sure it is spotless before you paint. I used Brake cleaner just before I painted mine.

Re: engine. . . .paint. . . HELP!

On another note. . .would it be best to just use the ssame color high heat paint on all engine compartment things i'm painting (block, valve covers, master cyl., power brake booster, etc.) or should it be different types?

Re: engine. . . .paint. . . HELP!

Just remember that Hi-Temp paint only cures at high temperatures. Only then is it resistant to fuel and lubricants. I donīt know if the temperature in the engine compartment is high enough to cure the other parts.
