Tahoe is totaled.

So last night my wife and I were on the way to drop the kids off at my brother's house and we were hit by a drunk driver that ran a red light. After being transported to the hospital my wife, 4 month old son and 2 year old daughter are fine. Bruises and cuts but nothing more. My 02' Tahoe is now scrap but it did it's job well. We were t-boned by an 02' lifted crew cab chevy. The lady tried to run but the cops caught her about a mile away from the scene. She's going down for felony DUI and hit and run. Reality check guys. Don't drive drunk.

Glad to hear everyone is OK. So I guess the Tahoe will now become an organ donor for a 60-66 family member?

I'd love to have the 5.3 out of it. It's a strong 90,000 mile runner with a brand new K and N cold air intake.... damn it. They're probably going to total it and cut me a check.

Re: Tahoe is totaled.

It looks like the truck did a pretty good job of protecting your family. If you had been in one of those 40mpg sub compacts we would all be saying what a nice family you folks were.
That would be a nice doner rig especially when you know what kind of care it has had.

x1000. She actually got lucky; she's just going to jail. That's a lot better than living the rest of your life knowing you killed somebody's children.

Really glad you're all ok.

Man, that must of been scary. I am glad to hear you and your family are safe....

She tried to run after ?? What a frickin low-life man....she didn't even think about checking on the people.....That really ticks me off to know there are people out there, that share the road with you, that don't even give a $hit about others.

Re: Tahoe is totaled.

Thanks you guys. The family is great, the kids won't remember it and my wife will be fine in a week or two. Very Very Lucky.
The Lady has insurance which is good because there are trauma center bills to pay. Not to mention a new truck. I hope she goes down too. They brought her back to the scene in the cop car to see what she had done I guess. Hopefully she learned her lesson...you never know. Maybe the image of me with blood running down my face and a 4 month old kid in my arms will be enough to make her think twice about doing it again.

Great news that you and family are pretty OK>

WHo was in the front passenger seat?

Sometimes it takes a while for orthopedic type problems to show up. Hopefully none will.

Re: Tahoe is totaled.

I have absolutely no tolerance for drunk drivers. No exceptions, not even if a friend or family member gets arrested for drunk driving would I have a shred of respect or sympathy. Then to run away on top of it. This lady is worthless. They should make a hit and run especially mixed with drunk driving an offense up there with murder charges. If anyone on here doesn't like my opinion on this TOUGH. I will not waver on this decision.

Re: Tahoe is totaled.

if i had a dollar for each board member whose been involved in a drunk driving accident i could pretty much have enough money to have a really bice vacation. I too have no sympathy for any drunk driver but until the laws are made very severe with real jail time for both the drivers and stiff and fines/jail for people who knowingly serve people who will be driving not much is going to change

It is great that you guys are ok. This is one of the reasons I slow down for green lights and take a look before crossing. It might not be enough but you never know. I can't stand drinking, I don't even drink and I don't even like beer.
