Re: '92 GMC Southern Comfort Daily Driver

Thanks Mike.
Other than that one little piece, it doesn't look bad. I was thinking about going to our local salvage yard and hunting down a '95-'98 truck with power locks/windows and red door panels, so I can put them on my truck. I like the look of '95-'98 door panels better than '88-up.

I like the look of the '95-'98 panels better, and I like how the buttons sit up with the armrest, not on the side of the panel itself. Me and my dad have a bad habit of hitting buttons with our knees and locking the doors or rolling down windows. And the '95-'98 panels are closer to the panels in his 2000, and I just like the style, and as I said, I like where the power switches are.

Did a little cleaning of the truck and wheels. Here's pre-wash:

And after:

Also, here's some shots of the wheels. Front shined up, rear still dull.

Nice! I always have to do a double take on how well the front end blends into the trucks paint scheme.

From looking at the photos...... Isn't it nice to have so much room at the house to do projects as this? If I had a 4 car garage, I'd restore my '68 Firebird Convertible.

Honestly it'd be nice if we had a 4-bay garage. Be one hell of a shop to work in. We live in just under 4 acres, and we only use a tiny chunk of the land to work on thee trucks. The '92 was rebuilt in the driveway and the 4-door is being built under a makeshift shop/garage. But I do know what you mean.

Re: '92 GMC Southern Comfort Daily Driver

I got bored, so here's a few update pics and then a few pics I took just because.

Painted my hitch; receiver and ball hitch.

Put a new sticker in the back window. Gotta love them racks!

And here's a few just 'cause...

Re: '92 GMC Southern Comfort Daily Driver

A few updates. First, swapped bumpers. I took the brush guard off of the GMC and swapped it with the push bumper on the Crew Cab. I think it looks shnazzy

Next, was the removal of all 4 centercaps. They were old, plastic, and breaking. So I said to hell with 'em...pulled the caps, painted my front grease caps red, and all 4 of my valve stems red.

And lastly, the obvious fact that my tonneau cover is gone. Took it off for the time being...it'll probably find itself back on the truck later.

A few new shots out in the middle of the day in the sun. I plan on giving the entire truck a bath and cleaning the interior soon.

I guess the iPhone 3GS doesn't take big photos

In with the new...tomorrow. 60/40 cloth bench with center console out of a '95-'98. After some cleaning tomorrow, along with some modifications to make the damn thing fit right, it'll be in the truck.

I think you will enjoy that 60/40 split bench a lot better, I had one in my old truck, looking for one to put in my 00 GMC.

I already do. I got it bolted in today, and it is so much more comfortable than those torn up 20-year-old leather buckets

My old leather buckets are gonna go in the '94. I'm gonna take the console back out and put the middle seat back in. Mainly so there's a center seat for my sister's kids during Ohio trips

Thought I'd go ahead and post these before I head off to sleep. A couple pictures I took while cleaning my cab. First one is my little bulldog that has been in every truck I've owned since 2007.

This one shows how well you can clean a truck carpet with some vacuum work . I'll have pics of the newly installed front seat tomorrow

Re: 1992 GMC Sierra C1500 Shortwide DD/Project

Added tow hooks to the front today:

The push pads on the bumper tuck them away, but they're still usable and accessible, and they fill in the holes on the valance.

Re: 1992 GMC Sierra C1500 Shortwide DD/Project

Well, I've got a few updates on my truck. First, I put a new rotor on the left front spindle, so that I have 5 studs again instead of 4. Also, swapped out my back windows. Put in windows that don't have louver covers on them. And on top of that, I put my toolbox in the bed and gave the truck a bath.

Now for the pics. I've never taken photos way in the back pasture of our property so I thought I'd do so.
