Raised white letters on tires question

Just got the tires, the white letters not done well by factory. Well, I sprayed on some tire shine, and after sitting overnight, they turned brown.

I scrubbed them with gojo, and (second pic) they did not get much better.

Anyone know how I could make them nicer? Is there, perhaps, a special paint?

What would you clean them with, the Gojo was a fail, but don't want to destroy the white...

thanx

Westley's Bleach White and an SOS pad or scrub brush.

Sounds like Westley's may have been sold and the new owners have changed the product (either as a cost savings move or as a result of EPA action).

Thanx. I was worried about taking the white off, but I guess not.

Try greased lighting and a regular tire brush.

Re: Raised white letters on tires question

+1 on westleys bleche wite, but alas, seems Keith is correct on the sell out

still have an open bottle of it somewhere, guess I better ration it carefully..

anyways, the old stuff was excellent at brightening white and black walls, letters etc.

but as typical these days, good ol stuff that worked has to be revised with new and improved formulas that don't work

btw OP, how old are those tires? may not be soiled but actual broken down paint..

Re: Raised white letters on tires question

Thanx for the advice. Cleaning just made the "white" peel off."

These tires are brand new. The cheap white just peeled off. I ended up repainting them with acrylic paint.

Re: Raised white letters on tires question

that brand of tire is cheep anyway hate to say this like that .

lots of the cheep tires is a over coat and the tire oil's bleed threw the white like you posted in pics and can not be cleaned up .

as to cleaning good white on tires i use purple power or simple green 100% and scrub brush

Re: Raised white letters on tires question

McGuire’s Hot Rims All wheel cleaner is what I use on my chevelle’s tires. It is like the old Wesley’s formula. Dissolves of the brown areas just like Wesley’s. Look for a clear purple bottle.

Re: Raised white letters on tires question

Westley's Bleche White is definitely the best. After using it, apply a good sealant or dressing.

Re: Raised white letters on tires question

I have had to resort to using brake cleaner sprayed on a rag then carefully wipe each letter. some of the bfgs seem to have an issue with the letters turning brown. especially if the tire was sprayed with cheap tire black. obviously don't spray the whole sidewall.

Re: Raised white letters on tires question

A white paint-pen looks sharp, but is time consuming.
