Oil filler tube question

How does the oil filler tube connect into the manifold? Is it something that is threaded in? I have oil leaking from where it meets the manifold and want to stop that. I did not want to force it without knowing how it goes in.

It's just an interference press fit. It will pull straight out.

I've never removed one, though.
Might be able to take a small piece of wood to use as a barrier, tap on the wood/pipe. See if if will free itself.
Get everything cleaned up, and some good RTV will seal it. I use Permatex Ultra black...

Make sure the PCV system is working. You may be building up pressure causing oil to leak in an uncommon place like that.
I'm curious. Were does that hose in the top of the water pump go.

Shaking the PCV valve, it rattles so I think that is free. I am going to replace it anyway. I agree and wondering why there would be any pressure there for oil to leak out.

That hose goes under the radiator hose and then back into manifold it seems. Hope this pictures can show it.

Any thoughts about that?

If you have enough blow-by, the splashing oil can be "pressurized" and could leak there. That coolant hose appears to be a thermostat bypass, but not like the block that goes under the thermostat on some trucks.

I'd like to see a better pic of where that heater attaches to the intake...?
Small block engines come with a bypass made in. Now..medium and heavy duty versions of the small block, use a heater hose bypass into the intake or thermostat housing. Never seen the HD version of the bypass on a light duty pickup (light duty is 10, 20, and 30 series...)

Those oil fill tubes usually only leak, like yours, if the have been removed and re-installed...

Some of the '60-'66 trucks had the same bypass that one would see on the MD and HD trucks. I was surprised to see that. Here's one example-

I am not an expert on the old PCV system but my 283 drew air in through the fill tube and had a vent in the back of the block by the distributer.

On the newer system I have seen the vent cover on the inside of the valve cover sludged up to the point it didn't breath and would pressurize the block. Might check that you have air pulling through the hoses.

I have seen that intake to water pump before on early small blocks on 4v intakes. Never a 2v. Most I saw were in cars.

Tough to take picture without taking things apart right now, but this is the best I can do. It seems to be dry now. I am going to be checking the PCV valve and all the vent hoses etc. It does seems there is a pressure building up.

I have a 67 327 with the older PCV system. I think 67 was the last year for that type.

My 327 draws air from there the fill tube to a orifice in the carb base, like a PCV, then there is a breather on the back of the engine that connects to the air cleaner for fresh air.
