A story I just read ,,believe it or not
We had a Chevrolet minivan towed home by AAA. After he dropped it off, he asked what's wrong with it? I told him that it acted like no fuel.
He walked back to his truck and brought a giant, heavy tow hook and crawled under the van. I'm thinking, "what is this crazy old man going to do with that?!" He tapped on the underside of the tank and said, "OK, start it up." I turned the key and it fired right up! I am so proud that I didn't say anything to him while he was dragging that giant hook of death under my van. He said to just replace the fuel pump and you will be good to go. Yep. Do you believe it ,,,,,,,,,,,or not?

Re: A story I just read ,,believe it or not
I would check the ground and electrical connections on it first.
Ok, I have a similar story. The other day my friend and I went to check the timing on a car for a friend of his. He checked the timing and while it was running it sounded bad. The owner said after he put the exhaust on it it started running bad. My friend turns and looking for something he picks up a 3' rod and start's to act like he is gonna hit the top of the motor. The owner eyes popped out like what you gonna do! My friend tapped the EGR valve a couple of times with it and it went to running better. He told him to take it off and clean it real good. I was laughing so hard I couldn't stand it. I wished I'd had my phone with me I'd gotten a picture of the owner's eyes!

We had an Astro van we did that with. Worked great for quite awhile, why replace its working fine. Died for good when we were in Ocean Shores, a million miles from home.

The windings burn up and loose continuity in the pump. Jarring it sometimes gets them touching again. That’s my first step to get one in the shop before we push it in. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.

I absolutely believe it. I also believe that it might not work a second time.

I believe it. I have done it before also. Sometimes just the palm of your hand is enough to get it working for awhile.

Re: A story I just read ,,believe it or not
I use a dead blow rubber hammer. We call it a "GM fuel pump reset tool". The brushes get work and they stick in the slides. When it is shut off they cool down and no longer touch the commutator. Tapping bottom of tank jars the brushes loose to make contact again. Same thing can be done on an alternator. Not charging? Tap rear housing near brushes and listen for the typical "whine" when it starts working again
