Re: Low 72 progress pics...

Here's some pics of the motor and radiator installed. There have been a few inquiries about how an LS motor and Dropmember fit... here we go! The stock a/c compressor and bracket do not fit due to the rack and pinion and frame clearance. We went with a Street and Performance kit (the rest of the accessories will be updated at a later time... along with some type of forced induction )These motors are slightly larger than a traditional SBC, but since they have elctronic ignition and have no distributor they are able to fit closer to the firewall. Just like in the the trucks, the blazer needs the large hump in the floor for tranny bell housing clearance.

We were hoping to have it running for Kyle before Christmas... but ran into a fuel pressure problem... and ran out of time yesterday. Looks like Kyle will have to settler for a Happy New Year instead.

Here's some pics of the motor with and without the cover.

Re: Low 72 progress pics...

Nathan,
Those shots are exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks for taking them.

Were there any other fit issues besides the a/c compressor? Where is that kit available from?

Man, that looks good in there. I can't wait to start on mine. Is Kyle going to stick with the cast headers or go with a tube header? It looks to be a nice fit with the stock ones. Will a tube header create any clearance problems.
The other post with the drop member in the C-10 has tube headers and I don't think there were any fit issues there so probably just whichever I want to use, right?

Re: Low 72 progress pics...

Some times these computers can be fun. I have been dealing with computer problems for a few years (I look at, I know it has a computer problem so I walk away for a year!) but that is finally solved. I just ordered a Painless "Perfect II" kit for my 93 vett LT1 because I had problems with the harness, chip, ECM and everyone (three companys) pointed fingers at each other . This should solove the problem and give me a few upgraded options as well.
Good luck with your and let us know how that first burn out goes!

Re: Low 72 progress pics...

The Computer issue should be resolved tomorrow and then there are a few odds and ends left like hood hinges, wheel wells, exhaust, plumbing and wiring the air ride, AC, and installing the seats and I should be rolling. I purchased a cowl hood and my girlfriend bought me a polished phantom grille, I cannot wait to see these installed.. Happy New Year everyone

Re: Low 72 progress pics...

Kyle,

It's been a while since I've been in the truck scene and a lot has changed since then.

What's a phantom grille?

I can't wait to see more pics. Got any of the grill?

Back at ya with the Happy New Year wishes!

(need to change the date on the hat to 2007)

Re: Low 72 progress pics...

Here's a few pics of the exhaust... I believe the mufflers are 40 series flowmasters (they came off Kyle's 62... it will have a pair of Spintechs). It's 2.5" the bends are all mandrels that have been mitered and TIG welded. He wanted the exit to be out the side in front of the wheels... had to be a little creative and do a loopdie-loop up and over the frame-rails. It turned out pretty nice... and sounds DANG GOOD! Maybe Kyle will post up an audio file?
