Re: FITech Experiences ?

Cool. Hopefully he will post how it is running after he uses it for a while.
I still think I'd like to mount the Fuel Command center on the Rh side somewhere.

My FCC will be going on the passenger side firewall.

I wonder how this would play out replacing my carb in my 77. I don't see how it wouldn't benefit but I am in California so.....

Forget it. You can't legally do it in CA, even though it would make sense and would probably be more fuel efficient.

I am assuming that that is only for trucks that need to be smogged?

That is correct. If you have to smog it, whatever parts you put on have to have an EO #.

Yes, that is correct. I think the cut off year is '74, but I'd have to look to make sure.

Re: FITech Experiences ?

I wonder if it's possible for them to put a password control for the ECU that we could use to lock out the unit
It would be a simple way to prevent the vehicle from starting without your permission.

I was also wondering how/if I could use the unit as a anti-thief device.
I might just go the simple route and put a kill switch in line to keep the pump from running. I do that now with my electric fuel pump but the carb float bowls hold enough fuel that you can drive it away before it runs out of gas. I wonder how long the injectors will still squirt without a pump.

Here's their quick reply :
Hi Robert,

Re: FITech Experiences ?

Starting my install later this week.
I hooked up a vacuum gauge. I'm glad to see I'm actually getting 15 at idle. Last time I checked, I seem to remember only about 10 or 11.

Re: FITech Experiences ?

I bought an in cab heater so I could mount the FCC on my firewall. I don't think I like the look.
I'll keep it there to get up and running, but I'll eventually either hide it in the under hood heater box, or move it to the radiator support - opposite side of the battery - where most guys mount it.

Agree, core support is where I am planning to install mine.

I see the pressure regulator on the fender wall going to the FCC. Do you have an electric pump already?
