aftermarket cruise control advice needed

I am looking to add cruise control to my 72 stepside. Years ago I bought a unit from JC Whitney for my 71 el camino. It had magnets on the driveshaft for the speed sensor and worked great. I searched their website and came up empty. Does anyone have any advice? I'm not worried about originality.

Re: aftermarket cruise control advice needed

I used probably the same unit on a 79 Blazer and 79 Honda Accord. I bought one never used in the box at a swap meet a few years ago for my truck and haven't gotten around to installing it. They were made by Dana who called them Speedostat. They were sold under various names but usually still carried the Speedostat name as well. Here's one on eBay.

Rostra is a major manufacturer of aftermarket cruise controls.

Re: aftermarket cruise control advice needed

I installed a Audiovox cruise that I found at a swap meet. I believe Audiovox is the same as Rostra. Haven't tested it yet due to the truck is in winter hibernation.
It was pretty easy to install.
