Cab Cart Finished

I got my cab cart finished and my cab off the frame and installed on it. I wanted to paint the cart, but it is too cold this time of year. I used the specs from some carts others had made out of wood.
Time to order some patch panels now.

Re: Cab Cart Finished

Looks good. Mine had to sit on milk crates. No rolling . Maybe you could add an extension of some sort to roll it up on its nose.. Let the fun begin!

Re: Cab Cart Finished

Thanks for the positive comments. I've been wanting to make a cart. It would have been much easier to make it out of wood, but I made it out of scrap angle iron I had laying around the shop. I bought 5" casters from Harbor Freight for $7 a piece. I would recommend these for the price. They are rubber with a cast iron center and roller bearings. I just took them all apart and repacked the bearings as they don't come with any grease. The cart rolls very easily with just one person.

Re: Cab Cart Finished

Did a search on cab carts and I'm curious what are the dimensions on these things and for anyone who know how many people to lift one of these suckers? Or even an exact weight?

I built mine 4x4 and 2.5 tall.. Just lifting the cab to the cart, a friend and I did it and had his son push the cart under after we lifted it. Now, if I was going to finagle the cab on or off frame I prefer to have a person on each corner just to be safe. My guess is a stripped cab is coming in at about 300lbs... ish.

Nice job on your cart junksaver!

Re: Cab Cart Finished

a bare cab with nothing on or in it really isnt that heavy my boy an i picked up mine to move it around before i made the cart but all alone i can roll it around on its front or back and installed it on the cart myself just by rolling it on but my cart isnt as tall as most of the ones i see on here
I use a old peice of carpet to roll it on to keep from boogering it up anymore

I used the dimensions that I found here on the forum. If you can't find any I will measure mine if you need me to. As far as removing the cab most people seem to use engine cranes, but 2-3 people can lift a bare cab.

Re: Cab Cart Finished

Pretty cool. Say, how intense is it to disconnect the wires between the firewall? What other considerations are there, such as maybe the heater core? Note, as the body, windows and steering box go, everything other than the cab will be off anyway. I'm green. Taking notes. Thanks for any advise.
