Re: 69 cst-10

I have been close to doing the same thing with my 67. I held out and got lucky, It took me to long to find one in the condition mine was in, barn find. Here is a couple of pics of mine, all original metal in cab, I haven't worked on it in almost a year, job keeps me on the road too much. I hope everything works out for you, looks like you have done a lot of good work to your project.

Talking Re: 69 cst-10

So holding out on selling it worked. My military time will pay for this build seeing as im going back to school for the MGI bill. I have a set of BFG drag radial 315/60R15 coming in tomorrow. Will get mounted and move the truck to my garage finally. get the Painless wireing harness #10206 installed. get the Hooker comp headers order, along with the Wiend G water pump, MSD or Milloy 6al, some hoses, and a IED driveshaft all ordered. Will be seeing some progress after about a 8 month rest. I am not worried about the body right now, will look like **** (some good paint scrapes) for a while but will be eating some RICE burners looking like that. I love the pump you get when seeing it come together.

Re: 69 cst-10

got the rear tires on. they are taller then i thought but will work, maby after she is running and has some miles on it i will get some nice 18-20 inch rims on it. but for now, these will be doing the hooking(er: ). I really need to get it cleaned up, sitting for so long got it dirty. Ill wash it while moving it to my garage. I have another set of rims, 10x15 2in backspace. maby put some regular BFG like the front so it dont look like it has much under it,

Re: 69 cst-10

I got the truck moved from my friends house to mine. borrowed a trailer from a co worker. After putting the bed on, i like the way it sits and the way the tires are in the wells. I amy drop it a little more but not to much, will see once everything is on it.

Re: 69 cst-10

Once the tires were on, i noticed the pass side rear frame rail was about 1 1/2 inches closer to the tire then the Driver side. adjusted the springs cause they are still a little lose and i still have an inch to work out. When i welded the trailing arm perches on it was all centered. Im not sure where i will find the inch from er half inch. 1/2 inch over will be 1 inch total. Shouldnt be to hard, probly just need to tighten everything up, i still dont have the watts tightened.

I did get the rear brakes on, just need to find a brake line fitting that will fit the caliper fitting. Ill be ordering an aluminun driveshaft here shortly. I should have the fuel tank installed by weeks end, work will get in the way a bit though.

I got a bit of help while messing around today.

Re: 69 cst-10

So i got the rear end centered, just worked with the watts link and it moved the body over enough. Ill be ordering some more parts to button up the engine this weekend so may have her running by end of next week, I hope.

Re: 69 cst-10

Got a bit done today before a lot of parts come in (headers, Malory 6al, other stuff i can not remember) I got the front sway bar in. I had to drill some holes in the tubular cont arms. the flat plating not the tubes, and it mounted to the orig frame holes. I also found out that with my POL box trailing arms i can not use a stock type rear sway bar so i will probly buy a weld in one to mount to the rear axle. I got the alum fuel cell installed but no pics yet as i have removed it to wait for the wife to get home so she can, "Help me get it in." I do all the measuring 3x and drilling 3-4x and wait for her to do the final step so she dont need to do the hard work but will stil help me with it. With the Watts link set up, i had to make a few holes I did not remove the rear brace between the frame rails and after getting the cell in, i noticed the Watts link was hitting it when suspension traveled down, so i had to cut out the rear brace (will get a new one welded in) and mount the Alum cell a bit further back making more holes in the frame, so 6 holes in total that are new and not used. I will post pics of the fuel cell once she gets home. I have a bit of surface rust to wire brush off also from sitting outside so long.

Re: 69 cst-10

Well, it did not work out so well, Wife gets under truck and bolts are not going in as easy as a new pair of shoes fit so she gets frustrated. A bolt falls from her hands while twisiting it in and hits her in the head and she leaves, go figure. I spend a few hours of prep to wait so she can help then that happens haha oh well.

Re: 69 cst-10

Got the headers on. Having 2in primaries took some masaging to get in. I kind of wish i had gone with 2in but i got em in now. Needed to be dimpled at the lowest bend where they hit the lower Tubular A-arm and where they hit my motor mounts.

The passanger side went in easy but the Driverside took some work. After the new transmount was is all went pretty well.

I am working on sizing the pics. will get some soon.

Re: 69 cst-10

Got the 6in drop rear springs in. I think it looks better now. Do not have any good pics from a distance because it is in the garage but believe me, it looks better leveled out. Now it is 3.5in front and 6in rear.

Re: 69 cst-10

Pushed the beast outside to wipe the dust and crap off of her. took a few pics also. I like the stance just need to rotate the front tires. I may drop her down a bit more front and rear 3.5/6 so far but may mod the rear frame rails a bit.

Re: 69 cst-10

The PO had a small metal plate bondoed in to smooth the fender. I did not want it bondoed and decided to take it out. It had a thick layer of filler in it and i scratched it a bit, It has some small wrinkles in the bed and front fender with some filler in them. when i do the body ill take it all out and get the metal fixed.

Right now the plan is to make it driveable. The body will be taken care of later. It will look bad but run like a bad ass.

Should be running in a week or so. Still need to get the driveshaft. I am ordering the fuel pump/line/gauges and a few other items needed to get the engine fired up. Hope to have the wiring finished soon.
