Re: 69 cst-10

Got some gauges mounted. have 2 5/8 in autometer Pro Comp Ultra Lites. Used a 2 1/2 in hole saw to open up the holes then used a knife to shave and smooth the edges of the bevel. Turned out looking good. I did not want the old metal plate on the back so i slip fit them all.

Re: 69 cst-10

Well i feel dumb! my oil pressure gauge wasnt working so i moved the sending unit. First to the plug above the filter but did not have room with headers. Then to the middle of the block. Started it up and no pressure. Damn, shut it down and hear a noise. Crap, forot to replug above the filter. , about 2 quarts of oil on the garage floor. Well once all cleaned up, repluged, and refilled i have between 50-70 lbs at idel. Still need to get the fuel, water temp, and volts working.

That instrument panel looks great. I really dig this build, and I can't wait to see the finished product. Where did you get the front drop spindles? I going to start a build soon on my 72 LWB Cheyenne.

Re: 69 cst-10

I believe the drop spindles are CPP I have a mix of ECE/CPP/Performance online for most of the front and rear suspension.

Re: 69 cst-10

Thank you 67...

So my wife left me for Christmas to go back home for the first time in about 4 years, Colombia. I am left with my dog (GSP) and my truck I have been working on smoothing out the firewall with as little filler as possible. So far 3 coats with lots of sanding in between. Hopefully tonight, after work ill finish sanding and hope i dont have to touch up any more. Ill post pics as soon as i am satisfied.

Re: 69 cst-10

Got my Pypes Violators in today, Sound deep. But, when i started it, i had a puff of black smoke at the front. I saw my header gasket was burned out at the top or the #1 cylinder. Any recommendations on header gaskets?

Re: 69 cst-10

Here is the newest addition to the build. Some 2500 CFM 11inch flex a lite fans. I have them slightly off set so they are not only pulling over the same rows in the rad and the right one is also covering the trans cooler. ill get them finished and the temp controller done in the next few days. Update: I did more research on the fans and they do not kick out 2500 CFM, Summit just had that in a note about all Flex a Lite fans. I will be sending one fan back and getting a 16" at 2500 CFM and mine at 920CFM so about 3500 CFM total. hope it will work fine.

Re: 69 cst-10

very nice looking truck you have! and great build going on. What are you planning on using for turn signal lights in the gauge bezel? I was thinking of using auto gauges as well but wondered what to do about the turn signal lights.

Re: 69 cst-10

Wild, Funny you asked that because today, i recieved a $150 worth of lights and lenses from ECE. I will be using all of their side marker/tail lenses in clear as well as their turn indicators for the interrior.

Re: 69 cst-10

Finally got my 2500CFM fan in. It was a bit to big to have both it at 17" and my 1000CFM at 13" on the rad so i moved the smaller one to the front as a pusher. I plan on leaving the smaller one on at all times and then have the larger be on the Thermostat activation. Had just enough belt clearance for it and just have to move the Trans cooler a little.

How much noise do those make? I am sick of the 6 blade flex fan on my 4x4. It sounds like a freakin jet engine all the time!!!!

Re: 69 cst-10

You would be suprised at how quiet they are. With my engine off they are slightly louder then a small stand up house fan.

Re: 69 cst-10

I have the smaller pusher fan (Switched ground wire) running as soon as the ignition is on. The larger puller is temp activated. Works great. When the smaller fan is on, it is louder then when both fans are on but still not lout enough to hear over the exhaust.

Just waiting on some ECE parts to rebuild my turn signal switch. Traced a few problems to that so should have the wiring done soon.
