Re: SWB 4x4 was totaled. Now what? Can I get it back?

That's really an awesome thing to do Diesel wrencher.

Maybe I missed it but how did the op find the Carrier?
I have hauled cars for the last 27 years and never thought it would tip over.

I hope this isn't another U-ship horror story.
A customer of ours shipped rovers to Chicago, they clipped a bridge and didn't have enough insurance to cover the loss.

Kool it, he used a broker and the broker found the rig/tractor trailer to fill the load.

Ryan, You may not think these are great photographs but any photo that shows my truck sitting in your shop looks good to me. And thanks for the good news about the transmission. Glad to hear that was a simple fix. The insurance lady who said she would call me back in 10 minutes has not called me in two days. I am waiting for her go-ahead before I list the truck with a broker. I will give her a call again tomorrow. Thanks again, George

Thanks, everytime I read one of these deals it grinds my gears.
The customer always loses.
The broker and the insurance sure dont.

Ryan just left a message (Wednesday, June 28) on my phone telling me the trucking company has been in touch with him and will be picking up the truck on Thursday, June 29 (if they don't get to it today). I am not in any rush about it but I will be glad to finally hear it is on another truck and headed my way. Ryan has done an outstanding job of taking care of my truck. He is the kind of guy we all need to be more often.

I have a thought on your truck. I know that all insurance companies that you have your driver vehicle insured through also has as standard coverage on your newly purchased vehicle for up to 30 days without paying a dime. this is a courtesy coverage. I bet if you were contact your insurance company and get them involved you will see better response form the carriers insurance .

Re: SWB 4x4 was totaled. Now what? Can I get it back?

As mentioned a concern that the insurance company was trying to take the truck from you. That is also false. I have dealt with insurance companies many tie regarding claims to totaled vehicles . Under federal law your vehicle is yours until said times that you settle the insurance claim and at that point if the insurance company pays you for the vehicle as a total then and only then does the ownership transfers to the insurance company. All claims adjusters are on the insurance company side and are there to save the company money from any litigation in court.
You as the owner do not have to accept what the claims adjuster offers , but if goes to court then you would have to accept what is decided at that time .
I hate to be devils advocate but do hope that you had gotten many pics of the truck before it left the posession of the tow yard . the claims department will try to say that you accepted the shipped vehicle as is . Be careful and think out any decisions made. I have been there and done that several times with these people.

I think George would just be glad if the insurance adjuster called him let alone anything else. You can say they weren't trying to snag it, but things sure don't add up. Either way it's water under the bridge and I hope they make it right with George. He's the one out a lot of money with nothing to show for it except for the pics I have sent him. Hopefully that will change soon.

George, I want to wish you and everyone on here a happy Independence Day! Your truck is loaded up and heading your way!!!!!! It is strapped down securely and ready to see another side of the country!

Some day when I am driving across the country on I-80 I want to stop and meet Ryan in person. He has been not only a helpful guy but a true gentleman.

She just arrived home yesterday. I will post some photos soon. The truck is at the shop of a friend of mine so it is not handy for picture-taking right now, but I will get some soon. Got a quick look at her yesterday after she got here just before dark and I have been working all day today so I have not been back out there. Looks to be a rust free cab except for rockers. And a rust free bed. the camper appears to have been on her forever and protected the inside of the bed from wear and tear. The cab mounts and cab corners are all looking good. She seems to mainly have suffered from neglect over the years, and recent abuse, but in general I am quite happy to have her. I have heard NOTHING from the insurance company and I have been doing landscape work out of town so I have not had time to track down the insurance folks. I am patient. Thanks for asking!--George
