Talking Finised up my new exhaust and the truck sounds AWESOME!

Finally finished up the exhaust work on the '72 and I never thought it would sound as good as it does. When I bought the truck from Grandpa he had told me the exhaust needed to be redone again but it sounded ok to me just that it was so quiet you could hardly tell it was running. A year later the exhaust is starting to rot out so I decide to buy some long tube headers and redo the 2" duals to 2.5" I finally decided on some DynoMax 86022 headers after talking with Ed @ Mothertruckers and I must say they are very nice and fit perfectly. When I pulled off the old exhaust I was surprised to find "reducers" in the manifolds that choked the exhaust down to ONE INCH. I guess Grandpa did not like it being loud so they put these "silencers" in along with a glasspack of some sort and then a standard muffler in each side. (no balance pipe). Once the headers were in I had to drive the truck across town to the muffler shop (lotsa nasty looks while driving open headers) :p where they put in the new 2.5" duals, balance pipe, and Flowmaster 40's.

Now it sounds like it was meant to!
And now that is is not being choked it now barks off third gear rather nicely.

Thast great! I just got my 72's exhaust bent and mounted this last friday, very similar setup to yours; Heddmann Full-length headers, 2.5" Aluminized Pipe, Flowmaster 40's. Gawd I loved the looks I got driving home once it was finished...plus who doesn't love to turn some heads when they roll up?
