ZZ4 350 crate

I'm looking at installing a ZZ4 350 crate motor with accessory serpentine drive package in my 67 1/2ton. Has anyone done this and were there any clearance problems?
Thanks!

Re: ZZ4 350 crate

did this last year... you will have to rewire the alt and make a power steering hose. other than that is was a snap to do and a great motor

Re: ZZ4 350 crate

Let us know how the ZZ4 works out for you... I wish I would of bought that engine but I ended up with the 350HO/330hp crate. It is a great engine, so I can imagine the ZZ4 will be alot of fun !!!

Re: ZZ4 350 crate

My best frind put a 400HP ZZ4 in his 70 SWB blew his tranny within a month then put in a tremec (Viper) 6speed tranny in it. now if he would ever get the body and paint done.

Re: ZZ4 350 crate

I put 70,000 on a ZZ3/700R4 combo in a SWB 72. That engine made the truck super fun to drive, sounded great and my mileage was much better than stock. I used an Edelbrock 1406 carb which turned out to be a great match for my conservative driving.

Good Luck!

Re: ZZ4 350 crate

Here is a ZZ383 (same physical size as the ZZ4) in my 68 SWB. Fits like a champ. Minor clearance issues with the Heddman headers. My power steering lines fit without issues. Needed a resistor for the CS-130 alternator wiring. The rest of the serpentine system fits fine.

I have Sanderson Headers with Flowmaster 50's under cab...
