What's a good set of files?

Can anyone suggest me a good set of hand files for mild steel work? I'd like a few round files in the mix too.

Say from 1/4 inch to to 1 inch?

Most of the time every job is different ive picked up hand full of different ones then add to my collection as need cut some off modified to work same with hammers and dollys

most of my good files actually came from the junk tool bins at pawn shops, but as long as you stick with American, Swedish and german you should be good. Nicholson will be your best bang for buck. get a good file card and keep those files clean
i've done a lot of work with just files and sand paper.

to bad you weren't closer to Daytona beach cause I've got a great assortment of about 50-60files for sale pretty cheap// at the swapmeet I get a dollar or two for each one

I recently ordered a few Nicholson's. I was disappointed to find out they are no longer made in USA. For what it's worth, none of them were flat. Definitely not the quality they used to be.
