'05 Tahoe Steering Wheel Switches ?

Recently purchased the above Tahoe and find it has a few of the steering wheel control switches not lighting as they should. Radio station seek, volume up and down, mpg info, oil lie %, etc. Seems they are available on line both new GM NOS, repop after market and original GM used. Any thoughts on which way to go preferably? I did look into the process to replace the LEDs but not sure want to try my hand at that. Also, how much problem is it to remove the switch from the wheel itself? Simple situation of gently prying it from the wheel and unplug the wire harness?

I never had one with all the buttons. I know you have to or should disable the air bag function before you start messing around. Here is something I found that might help

Re: '05 Tahoe Steering Wheel Switches ?

I have an 04 Yukon that has the same issues. Its basically not worth the price and the effort involved In fixing it. But if you insist, it can be done fairly cheap on parts. But labor.

Re: '05 Tahoe Steering Wheel Switches ?

Thanks for the replies. Will have to give this some time to think about it. Not a huge issue with the switch cost verses the labor cost factored in if have to have it done at a dealership. Looked at the link and video and might be a thought but in no hurry to do so.
