1955 2 ton, starter wiring

I'm helping my son who is out of the states with a 1955 project,he's having trouble with the starting circuit, does an inline 6 cyl that age use a starter with the solenoid on the starter? If so I'm guessing it should have an s term and a c term for solenoid and coil? Any help would be appreciated, wiring diag, circuit id.

Re: 1955 2 ton, starter wiring

Are you sure its not a starter that uses a foot peddle that pushes a button on the starter? If not On mine the start terminal is on the inside next to the block.you should be able to use a test light and make it light up when you hit the start switch. Also You should be able to short across the battery terminal and inside terminal and make the starter go. The other small terminal should go to either the coil side of the resistor block or direct to the coil.
