Horrible Market For the 67-72 Chevy C10?!

(I AM NOT TRYING TO SELL MY TRUCK ON HERE!!!!!!!! I AM JUST STATING MY POSITION. I KNOW THE RULES. DON'T FLAG ME PLEASE)

I have my 70 SWB chevy for sale on craigslist (project). At this point im just trying to sell to who ever walks up withe cash in hand. i dont have time for the project anymore. the price i have it at is more than fair and very reasonably. i have seen other SWB with no motor or tranny or they just have a IL6. and rough body and they go for for over $3k.....Worst thing people dont even call about the truck. Is it me or is the market bad for these ol' trucks right now.?????????

agreed, selling market is tough for everything. On a side note there are a lot of traders on Craigslist so you could probably trade for something you need. But, there are also a LOT of flakes there too.

Flakes and tire-kickers....just part of life. Before you turn over that next rock, you might want to think twice about what might be under it.

CL is a waste in terms of judging the market. Actually theres tons of overpriced rigs on there. If you really wanna sell your truck... you will need to post it up on a site where you gotta fork over a little cash to list it.

...and that don't mean ebay.

Re: Horrible Market For the 67-72 Chevy C10?!

the market on craigslist here for parts and tools has been very good surprisingly in the past 6weeks or so i've had calls on stuff that i've been listing a couple times a week for 8-9months with no calls. then all of a sudden everything has been selling well at good prices
even some high dollar antique tinlitho toys that have generated ZERO interest in close to ten years have sold very well at the monthly swapmeet

also just recently looked at a 72 short stepper very good running 350/700r4 rougher body than i wanted for $1200

The air-cooled VW parts/car market is crud as well. I am trying to unload some stuff to finance some C-10 love... And nothing is moving. A few years ago people would have been fighting over what I am selling! (rare stuff)

Yes, the economy sucks. Yes, I still have a job which is good, but good luck getting a raise anytime soon.

Good point... But then... how about today's market, looks like the bear is winning.

But I think the economy is so unstable at the moment that a lot of folks are afraid to spend what they have (assuming they have anything spare).

The market can't be that bad it only took me a week to sell my truck (69 swb) and I got over 25K for it.

A buddy of mine just sold his 79 swb c10 for over 10K, and it only took him a week as well.

Not braggin ,just sayin.

I think its a timing thing. Thats a really sharp truck and a guy with the money wanted it. Same with your buddy. I'm trying to sell my house and until today, I hadn't showed in 2 weeks. The debt deal was scaring folks away.

Texas is a market of its own. Texas has created as many jobs as the other 49 states combined. Here in Michigan, trucks are not selling, but it is a buyer's market if you want a truck!

Probably neither, maybe its the quality of the vehicle. In these times, buyers can afford to be picky. Low mileage originals seem to do well. Check out ebay 230652282674 last week. Yeah, its a stock '64, but I bet a similar quality '70 would be in the ball park? Looks like it was never a project and very little was spent on it over the last 47 years. Or maybe the '60-'66 market has finnally taken off?

Re: Horrible Market For the 67-72 Chevy C10?!

Ive seen some nice trucks at bargain basement prices not selling ,people are hurting all over. Ive been trying to sell my 55 Chevy Bel Air 2 dr hardtop for a while now with few bites and its priced at half what Ive got in it .Ive had all kinds of trade offers but nothing of interest to me. I really just want the extra space in my shop and some extra money to play with but it just dont want to leave.

Re: Horrible Market For the 67-72 Chevy C10?!

Great responses guys. But i think people are just being too damn picky. They want a 2011 Quality vehicle for the price of a 1990 Geo Prism. If you know what i mean. yeah i agree some trucks on CL are RIDICULOUSLY OVER PRICED!!! Yeah i know we want the big money for the trucks, But the reality of it is honestly the 67-72 C10 truck is barely getting some recognition. i think people are mistaking their chevy pickup for a 70 Chevelle.

Im just saying the market does seem down for classic cars at this time. I mean $7,000 for a swb PROJECT. Is just CRAZY. My opinion is if your gonna do a frame off restoration and put high end performance parts. DONT EXPECT TO GET YOUR MONEY BACK OR MAKE A PROFIT!!! If your going to do a frame off why would you ever sell it??

Re: Horrible Market For the 67-72 Chevy C10?!

A lot of people try to sell something based on its potential, and not its actual condition.

"That there will be a $25K truck when its finished"

Yeah....after I put $40K in it, then it will be a $25K truck.

Yes Texas is the bomb!

However the guy that bought my truck was from New York, and my buddy sold his to someone from Pennsylvania.

Talking Re: Horrible Market For the 67-72 Chevy C10?!

i agree with LEDZEPP. In this market people need to sell the truck for what its actualy worth. Like if you were to call your insurance company and ask them what its worth,. they would give you a REAL price. Now im not saying you should sell really low cheap. For example if its estimated price value is $2k. maybe sell it for $2,700. NOT $4k!
Also buyers are trying to get the most bang for their buck. They want everything at a low cost and then some, HAAHAHAHAhA

Re: Horrible Market For the 67-72 Chevy C10?!

Sometimes it's just waiting for the right person. I had a parts trucks listed for $500 (not worth anything near that). I just had the parts listed out and added up the numbers for my price. It sat for over a year. One day a guy calls, comes and looks at it and makes a comments that "That thing looks Identical to the '71 dad had". He handed me $500 in cash and came back with a trailer. He didn't try to dicker at all. Haven't had any calls on my '72 GMC.
