What this bracket for ?

I have a 72 C10 step side. I think at one time it was a 3 or 4 speed. Getting ready to put in my new 350. I notice this bracket ?? For what ? Also another bracket or brackets that were cut off with torch.on both sides. I'm guessing two the brackets because they were mounted inside the frame top and bottom. I remove the cutoff brackets. Nothing on the glove box.

Re: What this bracket for ?

Yeah that's the z-bar bracket. I've spent a lot of time staring at one of those lately.

Re: What this bracket for ?

It connects the steering column linkage to the transmission so you can put it in the correct gear on an automatic transmission.

The Z-bar reverses the direction of the clutch pedal and pushes the clutch in. Random internet pic:

Re: What this bracket for ?

It’s for the clutch bell crank from the pedal to the clutch fork
